I've read about every single response to this thread and I find it amusing how people spread the word about Eisley. I heard about eisley from a friend who saw them in Cleveland with Coldplay. I, was in the middle of exams and didn't really pay attention to the suggestion. One day she IM'd me and said..."Hey, Eisley is going to be in your town (cincinnati), go check them out." So I listened to a couple of songs before the show and I came on here. After the live show, I was hooked. At the show my friend bought Marvelous Things and I bought Laughing City. We then switched cds the next week. (Sorry...we were poor high school students) That's when it really began.... I am on the newspaper staff so we all have a regular computer that we all work on. My computer was decked out with an Eisley desktop and the EPs uploaded to Itunes. Whenever I would be working on my section, I would always have Eisley blasting. I was often asked..."What are you listening to?" then i would go into my whole Eisley schpeel. One day, an editor on my staff told me....please take that music off. Which, I wouldve given a fight to, but he seemed pretty mad so I did. The next day he came up to me and went, "That song (memories) has been stuck on my head all day and I don't even know the words." He then turned into an Eisley fan too. My friend Zach tells me that he always sees their EP calling them everytime he goes into Shake It (independent record store) but that he has yet to buy it. I know he will eventually. If I ever give someone a ride, they have to listen to EISLEY. Whenever I make a mix cd, i make sure to include an eisley song. I even made a dj at my highschool radio station play Marvelous Things on the air. I've told at least 25 people about eisley, well thats how many people are on my newspaper staff. People are mystified when they listen to them and just want to know more. People buy good music, they will buy Eisley. --melissa |

I hope you guys/girls are right... Even if many of those views are the same people, a bunch of these cats have gotta stand up and answer the call, you know what I mean? You can't seriously think that of the 2900 people on these forums, it's only the same few people who keep reading the thread? Or much less, only 50 of that 2900 actually reply? That's gabage. _________________ "To cheating, stealing, fighting and drinking... When you cheat, may you cheat death. When you steal, may you steal a woman's heart. Listening to those record label or management people is not reason for Eisley to be down or depressed....those guys only think in terms of sales and number of plays. They don't think outside the box. If the public has been buying a lot of blue-colored widgets, then it has been proven that blue-colored widgets will sell well, so the manufacturers of widgets will obviously make and sell blue-colored widgets. Why would they re-invent the wheel? If said manufacturer hires your factory to produce widgets, and you create some really nice RED-colored widgets, would it not stand to reason that they would question why you didn't make blue-colored ones? And might even ask you to make some blue-colored ones? Perhaps, if they would put the RED-colored widgets on the market, they might sell well, too! But they might not have the guts to put them out. Eisely makes the music they make....it is wonderful, but it is not exactly the "avril-type" radio formula song. This is, in my opinion, a good thing, for it shows Eisley's creativity and maturity. However, they are now part of "The Machine", which signed them, toured them with Coldplay, put them in magazines and TV, etc, in unheard amounts of promotion for a band with no album! I understand why"The Machine" might want to have some of those "avril-type" songs. While i applaud artists for taking a stand and not compromising their work, there is also a lot to be said about having an income versus starving to death. If all they are asking for is "a little more radio friendly song", perhaps Eisley should bend a little and give it to them. Doing so doesn't mean they are "selling out" or that theyhave"compromised their art". And it doesn't have to be cheesy or stupid, and they don't have to run around in their underwear like Avril does. An artist may paint a picture on commission $$$, of a subject matter or in a style that may not be their favorite, but it is income, and it doesn't comprmise their overall style. It gives them the financial means in which to survive and create the art they do love! I believe a bunch of Eisley's songs would play well on radio AS THEY ARE now...but i doubt you'd ever convince the label to release them. They won't reinvent the wheel. I am disappointed in them, if they signed Eisely thinking they would write the type of songs like you hear from Avril. |

what can i say.. what do record executive really know?? you're talking about people who mangage thousands of bands.. hoping only a handful will make it BIG.. it's all a big gamble when if comes to predicting the trend of music.. how many record execs.. passed on bands like nirvana?? thinking that sound was never going to make it?? the beatles?? how many people are kicking themselves for saying.. " thanks but not really what we're looking for" and as for Avril.. Britney.. Hilary Duff.. i'd have to point out .. yes extremely popular.. now.. and i can't tell you why except.. for mtv's trl must have some sort of mind control thing going on.. but i'd like to point out a couple of things about these musicians.. back in the early nineties.. there was a young man.. blew up with one hit song.. soon made appearances in movies and selling out madison square garden.. you couldn't go anywhere without someone singing his song.. wearing his unique hair cut.. there was no end to his fame. where is he now?? Mr. Van Dame.. Vanilla Ice to most people.. well we all know where he is now... _________________ ask her if she still keeps all her kings in the back row? |

hi kim I took my long time friend to eisley's tiny texas tour engine room show in houston and asked him tonight what he thinks of eisley and he said "they are pretty good". A vj at the austin music network (amn), after they had recieved eisley's marvelous things video, said some breif words about them one night and mentioned that Stacy was 14. I emailed her with Stacy's real age and she responded back that "they are now my favorite female band" and went on to say how beautiful the girls are and that they are being requested lots. That is quite a statement from that vj who also vjs a segment called "Women who rock", a show of only bands with girls. She's around all this music all the time and eisley has made it to the top of her list. I told one of my ex-suitemates that eisley would be on the amn soon and after seeing the video he said something like "they were ok, i probably would have liked them more if they hadnt been right after my favorite video" So, there's three reactions to people's feedback after actually hearing the music. I tell some others about eisley, but it's just words.. it's easier to to read about one of yalls recomendations online, because i can try to listen to some tracks on that band's site, but in person.. just face to face.. I bet the people forget the word "eisley" after a while. I think about yall at least once a day.. and a little prayer goes up sometimes. I'm sure lots of little prayers are going up all the time for you all. If eisley doesnt make it, I think there's some more important purpose He has instore for them. I think eisley will be very successful. - matt _________________ "Commit to the Lord whatever you do and your plans will succeed." prov 16:3 |

yeah dude, i just picked up laughing city on sunday(two days ago) and i showed my friends, they said they frigging rocked. this is just recently though, and ive already shown my brothers, and they like eisley too. there might be a factor that i show people that have a similar taste of music compared to mine, but i really dont know if thats important, because obviously people that dont like a certain genre of music wont listen to it in the first place. i think eisley is definitely a blow...er ......upper kind of band, hehe. jonathan _________________ If you took time to read this instead of talking to me, I would seriously consider breaking open a jar of peanut butter and pulling up a comfy chair, because this could go on for a while. :( not as much recently as i first did when i found out about them... but that's because by now, most of my friends have heard of them... i'd say i've started.... 10-ish people listening to eisley. when the new full-length comes out, i'll definitely be making sure that all my friends are informed, kim, no worries from here. (I'm also from DFW area, so they're pretty well-known here. i do still tell new people from out of state about them frequently, though...) hmmm.... make that 15-ish people... _________________ -Levi http://www.leviweaver.com |

Kimbrtones wrote: How do your friends react when you introduce them to EISLEY's music?, and how often do you introduce them to someone new? I first heard about Eisley from a friend of mine who saw them open for Coldplay in Austin and had nothing but good things to say about them after the show. I kept hearing about them as they played some shows in the area, but it wasn't until late last year that I finally got some of their music (the two EPs). Now I'm a big fan along with my friend who first mentioned Eisley to me. Since I've had the EPs I've played Eisley's songs for five other people that I've met and the reviews were as follows: Two people loved the songs immediately, one has grown into liking them over time, and the other two said it just wasn't what suited their tastes. Even though some people weren't completely into the songs, everyone agreed that the music, lyrics, and singing were all very well done. |

I've told quite a few people about the band and haven't had a negative reaction yet. I'd heard of the band through other local musicians but never really paid too much attention until I put one of the ep's on my ipod. The next day I went out and bought both ep's and now I really enjoy the band. I went on a 2 week trip throughout South America this spring and listened to the Marvelous Things ep the entire time, start to finish, repeat, etc. It's obvious to those of us on the outside how ridiculous, but not that surprising, this label situation is. If anyone saw the silverchair dvd about the making of diorama, they faced a similar situation. Daniel didn't rewrite anything or re-do anything because that would have given the label an option, leverage against him. Look at how the album came out! It's too bad that Eisley is caught up in the archaic major label industry. They want to change (or so they say) but refuse to take the first step. Releasing the Eisley album, as the band wants it, would be a great step wouldn't it?!?! It's offensive how the major labels view us (the listening public) as too dumb to absorb something like Eisley. Great songwriting is easy to absorb on the 1st or millionth listen. Eisley is not a fluke and should not be changed or shelved. Also, as a business school grad, if the marketing department at the label can't think of how to push this record they are idiots! They waste many man-hours on dressing avril's backing band as punk and possible and creating authenticity. They wouldn't need to create the Eisley story because it is already too good to be made up. People do know how good this band is, remember that. To quote the streets: "you say that everything sounds the same, then you go buy them. there's no excuses my friend, let's push things forward." Don't just support good bands, but quit buying the bad ones too! |

Being form England means a whole lot less of people have heard of them. I have sent afew Mp3's to friends and they've liked the, refereing to them as cool and mellow which is a good thing. Friends at school are curious to know who's bands logo's I have stuck to my folders and I tell them btu the only way eisley will get noticed in the UK is by touring and *ahem* doing festivals _________________

yes indeed- forget anarchy! 'EISLEY IN THE UK' whenever i come across someone who i think might appreciate eisley i hold my ipod out to them and tell them to listen. sometimes it works. i'm quite persuasive. i'm also making the boys in my band listen to eisley whenever possible. i played them 'marvelous things' and while they were initially worried about what lyrics about 'mermaid-entwined shrubbery' would do for their reputation as manly men they soon warmed to it as they realised everyone thinks they're a bunch of girls anyway. so why not live a little and enjoy the finer things in life. _________________ "dial" in Welsh means "revenge". For me, I have very few friends who share a taste in music like mine. But they hear me discuss Eisley anyway. I know some people who like to dress in pants that can fit 3 more people and listen to death metal, so they just responded "That sucks" when I put Eisley on. But, after I thrashed them with fist and club for being worthless, I realized that their opinions have less value than a penny cut into quarters. Most of the people that I have encouraged to have a listen have enjoyed the band's music. I showed the Mr. Pine video from the CA tour to a friend of mine and she was pretty speechless, managing only "Wow...they rock". So overall, the real people that I have introduced to Eisley have liked what they heard. _________________ Audioscrobbler Now
