I feel like I'm different than a lot of the people here. I feel a lot more mainstream and poppy than you guys. I probably don't listen to half as much indie as you all. _________________ my name's carrie and i love a good sandwich so if you have a sandwich, come roll with me!

I haven't found anyone on here who likes Crowded House or REM. I like REM!! Oh and yes, I'm not quite as much into indie as a lot of folks on here. Eisley is the most independent band I've ever really known about. I love everything about Eisley, though. Seeing as they're such a change from what I usually listen to. It's good to have change. I love how passionate and magical and fairytaleish their music is. It's just very calming. It's also nice to have a difference in female vocals than what I normally listen to in female vocally fronted bands (The Sounds, The Start, Surferosa, Tsunami Bomb, Rilo Kiley). I love the sounds and the keyboards and the basslines are wonderful. The whole picture it puts in my head and creates is just... well, lovely. I can't think of another word to describe their music than lovely. And believe it or not... about 3 years ago I was part of the oldoldold Good Charlotte message board... then it shut down, and most of the boardies went to different boards that different members had made... I went to this board called GCR with about 30 other people... and then that boards Mod was crap... so most of us left after about a year... and then myself and another boardie made our own board, and there is about... 20 of us... it's in no way shape or form a Good Charlotte board, we just are all a bunch of kids who like talking to each other, and one of the girls saw Eisley with Coldplay and told us about them. I learn a lot of bands from those kids because we're all so different when it comes to musical taste. Most of us got our musical start from Good Charlotte, and it lead us all different ways. these two kids, a girl and one a guy are completely punkrocker musically, they listen to all these crazy punkrock bands I've never heard of, another girl is really indie and listens to a lot of indie bands and emo type bands... then there is a boy who's "emocore" and modern rock and kind of poppish sort of... then some other girls who listen to varied stuff. it's awesome because I get a lot of bands from them of different style. I think as long as you have an open mind, you will love Eisley. It's at simple as that. And now that I have basically typed up a NOVEL... I haven't found anyone on here who likes Crowded House or REM. I like variation, which is why I like this board. We relate in various ways. It's goodtimes. I mean, when I'm at school I'm always the girl explaining the bands am talking about, because no one knows who they are... and then I come here and I have a chance to experience the other side. I was gonna say, if I didn't, how much I appreciate the influx of diversoids on the forum. I mean, of course, there has been... It's not like everyone on the board only listens to the same bands, but I just think hisownshot and bloomedis giving the forum another facet ... a value I champion in this expanding culture. Band's get pigeon holed so easily. In a way, it was so cool that we got to go out with both Coldplay AND Brand New... both bands are on different planets but it gave Eisley an audience with different kinds of music lovers. I know, I know... not everyone agree's, but music isn't like politics. It's not so exclusive...there are many overlapping styles and influences. has anyone heard the dissociatives album yet? i'd bet a lot of people on here would like it. the band is daniel johns from silverchair and paul mac. it hasn't been released in the us yet (i don't think) but you can order it online or check out their site. luckily i live close to amoeba records and they had it as an import (too bad it was 20 bucks, but it was worth it). speaking of the diversity on the board, is anyone else excited for july 13/20? the new roots AND dillinger escape plan! |
