I've been thinking about getting an Epiphone PR5E acoustic guitar for a while, and right now zZounds has one that's "blemished" for like 1/4 off. What's more, my dad just took back his guitar that I've been using so I currently have none at all, and that simply will not do. I have like $300 available to spend on something like this at the moment. So I need some advice: Do I go for the blemished one ($260) and take the chance of it being noticeably fugly, but have a guitar sooner and save $90? OR... Do I wait a little while and just get one new ($350, probably sunburst) after saving up a little more money? Oh and they only have one blem left, and it will probably go pretty soon, whether to me or someone else. |

get the blem. usually musicians friend blems arent bad... and im sure Zzounds isnt any worse... my epiphone LP standard goldtop is a 2nd.. because one of the side marker dots on the topside of the neck is off center... hmm... upon noticing that that model has a "select" top, rather than a "solid" top, i'd suggest waiting and getting something else... it might cost more, but i think that a solid top makes a TON of difference in response and volume... acoustically, not plugged in, of course. _________________ Now I never leave my zone, we're both alone, I'm going home... If I were you I would try to find an older guitar like the Ventura, or Aspen line from the 70's, those guitars have huge sound that can take on any high prices Martin or Gibson. _________________ http://www.myspace.com/whisperingtrees |

INSTANT UPDATE !!! It arrived today, and it looks like the only thing wrong with it is that the little flowery thingie on the headstock (you know) is a little crooked. Sweeeeeet. It sounds and plays pretty nice, even though I still have to make some adjustments and change the strings, et c. Thanks for the advice y'all. |
