My name pretty much says it all. I dont usually post on these things but I just had to find something out. Ive been an eisley fan for at least a couple of years now and have seen them live five times. I always have thought they were really cool and original. But just recently I bought Midlake's cd bamnan and silvercork on the strength of continual good reviews from people on this site (which I have been lurking on since the coldplay tour journal) and found something disturbing. They sound exactly like eisley! If you removed the singers voice and inserted stacy and told me it was eisleys new record then I would believe you with no questions asked. So basically what I am asking is: who came first? I really hope it is not eisley because it seems to me that someone is really copying the other bands sound. |

they are similar but have a lot of differences, we played with them a while back and they have a different sound live than Eisley does, you'd be able to tell the difference. Plus they have cool video in the background! _________________ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - WWW.MODICOMUSIC.COM www.myspace.com/modico "even on the drearest day a loving hand won't turn away God's greatest gift to man how sweet is love" http://www.myspace.com/ambientgecko - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - |

Listen deeper. I think midlake shares more in common with the Beatles and Radiohead than they do Eisley. Though I could listen to either band all day and be in bliss. They do both make rich, textured music and such. I think if you listen more, there are a lot of differences, and no one is knocking anyone off (save for maybe the Beatles, and everyone does that). Glad you started posting, though. _________________ My photography:www.jamiemphoto.com You can't spell awesome without emo...backwards! -Julie definingawesome (11:44:11 PM): Eisley shivers our timbers |

idontusuallypost wrote: Why thank you I don't know the exact story, but they basically came up together from what I can gather. Midlake were more experienced muscians going in, though. As far as I know, Eisley caught Midlake live and they became friends. It was a while back, as far as the band's histories go. Oh yeah, you're welcome. _________________ My photography:www.jamiemphoto.com You can't spell awesome without emo...backwards! -Julie definingawesome (11:44:11 PM): Eisley shivers our timbers |

"some day will find it the mosslake connection the eisleys the midlakes and me" im not sure who came first... boyd would know. you might PM him. i would suspect eisley actually (if you count the towheads and following as "eisley) simply because they have been doing the band thing in some capacity for a really long time now. |

I love Midlake and I love Eisley. Not because they sound like eachother. Sure there are going to be similarities... Friends influence friends. Though, in this stance, not enough to mirror each other. _________________ And it's so sad to see the world agree That they'd rather see their faces fill with flies All when I'd want to keep white roses in their eyes.

Eisley started in 1998 when Stacy was 8 years old, and wrote the first song that brought the sibling band together. I don't think Midlake has been together that long, but, I am not sure. Still, those guys have been at their musicianship, waaaaay longer than Eisley. Tim, (the main writer from Midlake), and lead vocals, is one of Stacy and Sherri's favorite writers. Stacy is pretty sure he is a genius I think it is interesting that people come on and start threads, (seemingly wanting to stir up something), and then never come back. Regardless of who was first, Midlake will always be a big influence on Eisley, and Eisley looks up to them, and respects, and loves their music. |

That's cool. Didn't mean to offend you. We do have people that do come on solely for the purpose to start something, and never come back. As you could see from my post....MIDLAKE is highly respected by all of us in the band, and the DuPree house. Sorry if I misunderstood your intentions. Fair question |
