my thoughts exactly. you can hear a pretty clear Scottish accent during the Belle and Sebastian song "A Space Boy Dream" but the lyrics are spoken, but you can't detect much of any accent when they're singing. A few exceptions like the Proclaimers, or Super Furry Animals when they're singing in Welsh. I'm just thinking right now how awesome it would have been to have had a chance to hear WB Yeats read his poetry aloud..... quite nifty. _________________ http://www.livejournal.com/users/timbuktu/ "It is true that we are weak and sick and ugly and quarrelsome, But if that is all we ever were, we would millenniums ago have disappeared from the face of the earth." - John Steinbeck (WRITERS AT WORK, "On Intent") |

i think daniel johns aussie accent shows through alot when he sings. i think it is pretty easy to tell where a person is from when they are singing. they don't sing with an accent identical to their speaking one but there is still enough there to tell... |

I particularly enjoy the Wisconsin-Minnesota accent. I find it amusing, and it brightens my day when I hear it. Being from Texas, I have the accent, but I know how to speak properly, so most people don't hear it, unless I get real emotional, or when I put "y'all" in every other sentence. _________________ signed: Omygosh, Emperor of Shmo **the turtle stamp of approval** www.soulstrum.com |

"Today and Today only (!) you can git a large drank for only 1.59!" I was laughing so hard because she said "drank." I dunno.. that word just makes me laugh. Man living in Alabama is so much fun. _________________ "Jesus Shaves!" - Jamie |

If she had said it was yesterday ... then the past tense "drank" would have been just fine. _________________ My photography:www.jamiemphoto.com You can't spell awesome without emo...backwards! -Julie definingawesome (11:44:11 PM): Eisley shivers our timbers |

it goes from who designs the graphics to a discussion about accents let's see. i'm from NC, but was raised in PA til I was about 13, and then moved back to NC. They all made fun of my northern "accent" because I said "you guys" (not "yous guys"..nothing that thick) instead of "ya'll". then made fun of me because apparently ten (teeeeen) is pronounced "teeeiiin" (but faster) throughout NC. and for different pronounciations for Appalachian. Then I moved to Texas (we love to move.. btw I lived in Italy) when i was 14, and I have a fake "ya'll" accent.. and uh.. i guess that's about as Texan as I get I really do love texas though. (but i do miss the snow.. some of it) _________________ -mark |

I want to be a clone with a perfectly nowhere accent. No, wait, I was just IN LA...living there would have gotten me one step closer. JUST kidding. _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead. I keep getting asked if I'm from the north, but I've never been further north than... well, where I live, just around Dallas, unless you count one teensy trip to D.C. But where on earth would I have picked up a northern accent, and what does one sound like anyway? Just a general northern sound. Hmm... _________________ I highly recommend it. |

I have been told that I don't have *any* accent, which is kind of sad. Given the alternative, though (hick) I guess its not that bad. I should move to Britain or Scotland or Australia or something for a few years and let myself gain the native accent via osmosis or something |
