I doubt "Moss Eisley" is a registered trademark. If it's not, they might could get away with using. I suppose the labels don't want to take that risk however

It's whatever the band wants to do. I'm sure if they keep going about things the way they've been going about things, they'll make the right choice for WHATEVER is going on.

And yeah, I still think if it's a serious issue, that it's bogus. But who am I in the grand scheme of all things Moss related?

The Eye thinks you Mossers should change your wonderful name to 'God Only Knows' after he asked me what I thought you should change your name to and I responded by saying "God only knows."

Then he took out his eye and we laughed gleefully into the night.

Or better yet, how about '3 Girls, 2 Guys and a Randyman'. That way, I'll be cool by association.

I would go with The Moss or Moss Eyes. I don't think you should have to stray too far from the original. Personally, I don't think you should change it at all. What are the legalities at hand? If anything, it's homage to Lucas' creativity. However, if it is needed, i would stay true to the original name and definitely keep the (moss). Actually, the more i look at The Moss written, the more i dig it. Just my thoughts on the situation.

And on another note, the comment in the Morning News about teaming with songwriters to get a hit really broke my heart. I know it may have come a bit out of context, but i really hated reading it. I have been writing since '97, and never once wrote a song that i set out to write. It just happened. It was a snapshot of the way i was feeling at that exact moment. I am by no means preaching here either, i mean you guys are the ones on the brink of a deal and i am still sitting in my bathroom with a 4-track and my soul. I have just always been under the impression that a song is a poetic expression of one's soul. I just don't understand how someone else's imput on a song, so that it can become a hit, holds true to that concept. I think you guys are one of the most brilliant bands i have heard in a while, i just don't want to see the "industry" take away the innocence that makes the music beautiful.

i don't feel like reading through 3 pages...but has anyone suggested just 'eisley"...i personally like that better than 'the moss' or 'moss' or even anything relating to 'the duprees'....a little too close to all the other bands that start with "the" and just dupree sounds more like a 50s band or something...just my opinion...

OK everyone, here's the deal, we have been advised by our music attorney to change the name. The reason? we will eventually be sued. Can they win? Not sure, but don't need the hassle.
Keep the ideas coming!
Think about this, a band name takes on the personality of the band. What ever we change the name to, it will feel right because it's the same people in the band. Thanks everyone, so far, for your suggestions.

Seems like the word Moss gives a great deal to the name.... I think Moss should stay a part of the name....

I think it would be a good idea to keep either Moss or Eisley in the name. That way you could just add words to it.

I still think that you should go with the formula......
