OK, so now I am kicking myself for not running out to my car earlier tonight and being all cheesy and getting the band to sign my Laughing City EP and my mp3 comp. cd downloaded from the site which both happened to be in my car when I ran into them (at dinner). But perhaps that would not only be cheesy but psycho. Anyway, it was nice to finally meet (some of) the band....and I'm interested - what type of gear did you pick up at the G.C.? As I didn't want to put too much time interruptions into dinner, I neglected to ask all of the IMPORTANT questions. Just curious. Cameron _________________ Cameron aka truckpoetry.... hey. aww...that's cool. dude, you should have totally gone and grabbed your cd's. NObody in the band would think less of you. They'd be flattered and felt much love. It's no big deal. OK. but let's get down to brass tacks.... GEAR. ahh, yes. Glad you asked. Tonight rivals the memory I have of Christmas morning - 1967 when I awoke to find my 63 Rogers Holiday kit sitting beside the tree. (one I thank my older brother Wade for....because he convinced my mom and dad this was cool instead of some other cheezy play-like brand). This same kit, of course, is the one Weston has been using. But as I speak, Weston is now in the living room after returning from the Dallas Guitar Center with the rest of the fam', setting up his new red sparkling, USA Custom, Gretch drum kit... an apparent 6 month work of art for this historic brand, only recently purchased by Fender. (trivia: Chauntelle's Gretch guitar was made before Fender sucked them in...one of the last true Gretch guitars make... we're huge Fender fans, of course) I will say: it's freakin' huge... and, I gasped (in my head) when the boxes were undone. Fat, red, gargantuan drums, riddled and bolted with killer rugged hardware... These weighty, imposing beauties are elephantine - 13", 16", 18", 24"(X 18"!). Sorry for going overboard. (geeky, phsyco) but gear is fun. And Weston has been waiting for his first kit since he started playing as a wee-er lad. I'm so happy for him....(well, ok, and proud). Ahaaaa. Sounds like a beautiful kit. And that explains the need for the trailer hooked to the back of that van. Nobody needs a trailer to pick up extra strings and cables. Gretsch fan myself, though I've never owned such - only played a few - like a nice Gretsch red hollow-body that a friend of mine has. Very nice sound. Made me want a hollow-body, perhaps a Gretsch if my pocketbook were as deep as my desires. Cool deal - and thanks for the post. Next time I'll be more on the ball with the autograph hounding... This time I was somewhat not on top of it I guess (even though I was only drinking Cokes because I had to come to freaking WORK at 9 pm...grrr). Enjoy that new gear. Eh, well - I figured they'd put all the strings in what appeared to be a 42 passenger van. Looks like we have a regular john bonam here! Poop thats a big bass drum 24x18! Thatll give a nice kick. I would usually sugesst a 20x20 those are nice but If texans say bigger is better than bigger it is. |

I broke the e string on my bass once....i thought it was the coolest thing ever....like an omen or something. like in the Sandlot where the kid blasted the skin off the ball _________________ If you wanna go on a picnic, I'll bring the watermelon. |

I don't remember which string it was anymore (one of the thin ones), but one time I was playing and the thing snapped, and flung back driectly into one of my fingers. It was rather painful. uhm... since this is an eisley sighting thread i have a story. it has nothing to do with eisley but it has something to do with sightings. i saw two rats today whilst i was in chicago. we took the "L" out to this neighborhood (we were lost while looking for the venue that Dashboard was playing at)... they were cute... i know most people dislike rats but really they are just kinda like big mice. and they aren't mean. they were just chilling around in this alley sniffing around. yeah... i like animals. they're aren't enough of them around here. |

I don't usually break strings on my electric guitar any more, it was always the high e though. I quite frequently snap strings on my acoustic. Mainly the G-string, usually when I'm tuning it down to lower pitches (yes, it breaks when I tune it down), sometimes the B-string also, but rarely the high e. _________________ I think that it's brainless to assume that making changes to your window's view will give a new perspective.
