Ok...here goes: No, I don't post much, yes I love Eisley...got that out of the way. Just saw the Telescope Eyes video. I gotta say I'm a lil disappointed. First of all, the Laughing City version is IMHO a lot better (don't like the rearranged basslines) but that's beside the point. I was watching MTV2's Subterranean many months ago by some serendipitous, random, wonderful stroke of fate (seeing as I had never before or never since watched it), and the Marvelous Things video came on. I immediately fell in love with the song. That night, I downloaded every song I could get my sticky fingers on, bought their EPs the next day, and blasted the music every chance I got. I was in awe, in love, in nirvana. All because of that one song--one video--that somehow, for some reason, resonated in my subconscious, and took hold of something within me, making me need to hear more. it wasn't just the song, and it wasn't just the video. It was the combination of the two that struck some chord in me, that jarred the recesses of my mind, that made me recall emotions and feelings that maybe only previously Radiohead could ignite in me. And I'm guessing that a bunch of other people on this board had a similar experience (substitute Radiohead for your favorite band). My point? Telescope Eyes is a really really good song...regardless of what anyone (even members of Eisley!) say. The video did not do it justice. For me, it didn't evoke any great feelings, nor did it have any great imagery, nor was it edited well, for that matter. Bottom line is if I happened to be flipping channels 8 months ago and I happened upon the Telescope Eyes video (instead of the Marvelous Things video), I would not be sitting here posting on this board today...which woulda been my loss, but still. The video is too offbeat for the mainstream, and not interesting enough for the alternakids. Plus, for a dark song, the video is pretty light and fluffy. And it's not a juxtaposition that works (wheras the Stacy-looking-like-a-children-of-the-corn-type-girl-against-an-all-Ame rican-suburban-backdrop-while-singing-about-dreamy-images worked beautifully). I dunno...maybe I'm still upset that Mr. Pine isn't on the album... |

I was waaaay disapointed aswell. it had good aspects yes. it could work for some bands yes, but can anyone honestly say that it fits the emotion of the song, or even the band for that matter. however they are still among my top 2 favorite bands, and they are probibly the only band I would spend 6 rolls of film on at a show so I could hook them up with good pictures. _________________

anyone know if anybody put the video up for download yet? they most likely wont do that because of copyright reasons. I would watch mtv indie/underground shows, I dont know if its going there, but its a good plave to check. but I dont think you are missing much. _________________
