I am posting this because I believe most of the people in the laughing city have enough compunction about e-mailing this individual at home to refrain. I hope to be proven right. JD _________________ "Well, hopefully that's our job, to strap rockets onto everything." - Adam Savage, Mythbusters |

several things, in my opinion. RS doesn't have credibility as a music magazine anymore, and hasn't for a long time, so who really cares? They are about putting half naked artist on their cover. Second...the guy has a right to his opinion, and he wasn't vicious, just a bit synical, or sarcastic, but what do we expect? third...the good and the bad will both come, so we just have to grow some thick skin around here I hope everyone here will do the right thing and cancel their RS subscriptions and boycott the magazine |

i agree with Kim. Who reads Rolling Stone any more? I certainly haven't read it in eons. any magazine that puts Ashlee Simpson on the cover as an 'artist' is not to be taken seriously. plus, you must remember one key thing: the only bad publicity is no publicity... _________________ "Die Sonne scheint noch" -- Sophie Scholl <3 <3 <3 |

I don't know if the aussie RS is differently run to the US one but here its quite a decent mag still and they did quite a nice little piece on eisley in or about June 03 which is what got both myself and megan (deliciouspickles) to check out the band so they do hold some credit as far as I'm concerned.I don't think you can write a whole magazine off because of a few reviews you disagree with or the fact they put pop stars in the mag nowadays.I much prefer magazines like uncut and mojo for decent and non biased reviews but RS is ok. _________________

Besides, other people like Eisley see->gen-g.net. Who cares what some bum from RS says? If you do, work your butt off, and get a job there! Then you can review the next 5 Eisley CD's...and tell everyone how fan-diddly-tastic it is. If I didn't like the CD, I would have said so, on my site. Everyone gets their opinion, and I expect that the opinion of this writer was passed by his editor, who most definitely listened to the music. I'll say this much, Eisley's not for everyone...but it's for me _________________ Chauntelle Rocks! |

Personally, I think it's completely ridiculous that everyone is so up in arms about Rolling Stone's review. Good reviews come, as well as bad. That is the reality of releasing SUBJECTIVE art. Not everyone is going to love the album, and it just so happens that this particular dissenter is a writer for Rolling Stone. And now I will quote Rob from High Fidelity. "How can it be (vocabulary mishap) to state a preference?" Exactly. It's an opinion, not written law. If Eisley is pandering to Rolling Stone (which I firmly believe is NOT true), then they aren't playing music for the right reason. This would be true of any band. The magazine isn't horrible, I still think that it has some credibility (though I did pick up a wonderful 1985 U2 issue over Christmas and was amazed at the quality of the articles compared to today). Guess what, I would probably give the Eisley record 2.5 stars myself, maaaaybe 3 (mainly because I have large gripes with the production, if it was based purely on songwriting it would be higher, furthermore if it was based on Stacy's songs alone it would be a sure 5). Are you all going to hate me now and claim I have no credibility anymore? |

Good post Luke. I haven't heard the album so I can't give my thoughts on that. btw I actually picked up an old (1995) RS the other week because it had a great story about Jeff Buckley,Best 50c I ever spent _________________

I won't even visit Rolling Stone's Web site so they can't record the hit and use it for advertising revenue. But I've been doing that for years, well before I heard of Eisley. _________________ My photography:www.jamiemphoto.com You can't spell awesome without emo...backwards! -Julie definingawesome (11:44:11 PM): Eisley shivers our timbers |

If eisley got offered the cover of RS along with a story which praised them no end would peoples view of the magazine change dramatically & instantly despite the fact that a magazine can't go from absolutely awful (as most of you think) to a wonderful publication because of one story. I think it would _________________
