ok so there have been more than one thread on the room noises cd design, buuuut here's one that's all eisley. just to make things clear (and to not make me look like an ass or something) these are just opinions. I love design and for all of you who love it too, or eisley, feel free to comment. BOYD! i wish you could get in on this. it'd be one juicy discussion. room noises cd: overall i love how boyd worked it. it's different. different in this case, is good. i feel (for the most part) it reflects eisley's sound = woodsy & mysterious. but there are a feel things that i have to question. (bare with me) LOGO First, the eisley logo .... logos. During moss eisley, the M in the circle was the main logo on top of the title MOSS EISLEY. Now the M is replaced with the same type faced "E" (for just eisley). It is a wonderfully crafted logo but put on top of the new "EiSLeY" logo, it just feels out of place. The new "EiSLeY" (to me) is just amazing. i love it, and i rarely say that. Eisley having their original and qwerky sound is represented 100% by the new logo. Now i'm guessing that Boyd is thinking smart by using the original circle logo so that the original moss eisley fans may identify with the new one. I see both the circle E and EiSLeY on everything, sometimes one and not the other. I just think this might get confusing to potential listeners because just the name change alone confused many. I hope eventually he will minus the "circle E" and keep it simple with just "EiSLeY". ROOM NOISES cd just a few things that stuck out to me. Same issue with the two logos, for such a young band it may get confusing for consumers. I like the final typeface Boyd chose for "room noises". It is roughly the same as "Marvelous Things". However (to me) it's competing with the Eisley's name too much. Maybe it could've been slightly smaller, or "EiSLeY" bigger? Other than that I love the cover now when i was opening up the cd i was expecting the inside to be completely reddish (hinted by the spine from the outside). But it was a beautiful full shot of the band on the left, a "moss green" cd (that matched the outer shell), and the reddish background for the tray. I got totally different feelings & styles from the left side and right side. comments anyone? (please don't hate me) |

I get the feeling that the CD colors are transitions. I sense warmer colors in the future. I'll talk more when I can think. hmm _________________ My photography:www.jamiemphoto.com You can't spell awesome without emo...backwards! -Julie definingawesome (11:44:11 PM): Eisley shivers our timbers |

I personally like the logo with the circled E. A lot of bands have a symbol that identifies them ie: the Rolling Stones mouth. I think its better for marketing to keep the circled E. However, I like the Laughing City font for the logo. I think it fits their image better.
