every one of you realize that when you demean or say something negative about nfg, their music, or their fans you are stooping to the level of the inconsiderates at shows who heckle, make comments, or give the band less than nice gestures.

I guess what I am saying, is how do you expect these select few people at the nfg shows to respect eisley and their music when a few of you eisley fans can not return that respect towards nfg and the people who like their music??

you get what you give in life.

I agree, but Eisley fans are not out there yelling at NFG during shows. At least I hope not. I abhor such behavior.

yes, but how many eisley fans leave before nfg even takes the stage? In my eyes thats a pretty strong statement, not even giving nfg the chance of a chance to hook you. step back and take a look at it from a different point of view. Say, for sake of discussion, that this tour line up was switched. say that eisley took out on tour nfg for their openers (or someone I'm sure you all equally dispise musically) the majority of you wouldn't be thrilled, some of you might be irate about the situation, and a handfull of you might even heckle the opening band.

Eisley is something new to most nfg fans. not everyone in the crowds every night really gets it. I admitt I really didn't jump the bandwagon at first. Because the two bands are so different musically it takes an open mind to really accept or respect each band for what they are. I always see people bitching about how rude nfg fans are. but to me, I've been to 9 shows on this tour and I have witnessed more acceptance and respect from fans than rudeness and disregard for the band.

just stop the stereotypes and judgements without knowing what in the heck you are talking about. thats really all I was commenting on. I'm sure this post wont make a difference in anyone's mind that has already made their judgements, but I will warn against making judgements without an openmind or taking a look at the situation from all sides

Well, I don't think Eisley fans are too fond of the crushing and moshing that takes place during shows of that nature. Maybe some are, but I can't stand that stuff. I enjoyed NFG from the safety of back. I plan to do the same when I see them next month.

I'm not saying Eisley fans are without fault here, I'm just saying it's still much more of a statement to verbally berate someone than it is to leave the floor. That's normal, too. I've seen shows Eisley has headlined, and the crowd changes with each band. It's a simple act of changing out audiences.

I don't think anyone here actually believes that all NFG fans are as rude as the ones this thread is about, despite a couple of peoples' thoughtless comments. Certainly those comments don't represent the majority of Eisley fans.

However, simply leaving the show displays a certain respect for the members of NFG as human beings. Heckling displays no regard for Eisley as human beings, and advertises a great deal of immaturity. Also, I realize that live shows are a different entity from recorded music, but I highly doubt that any of us would leave the show before NFG without having heard their music first. I know it is not in my nature to judge things without giving them a more than fair chance.

This thread is absolutely rediculous.

I'm a fan of New Found Glory and Reggie and the Full Effect, and honestly, I walked away from the show a huge Eisley fan. These people saying $#@! about NFG and their fans, you're doing exactly what you're against.

i haven't read a lot of this thread because it gets so redundant but even if there have been eisley fans trashing nfg ON THIS FORUM, it's different than nfg fans DURING EISLEY'S SET.

not saying that we're perfect or anything, because we're not.

btw everyone, i think this whole thread needs to die.

No I'm not. I'm not booing them after they've performed.

I'm talking behind their backs, like a man.

I think we should let it die instead of making it die. I hate constant locking of threads. Even annoying ones. It's stifiling and no one learns from it. NFG fans need to accept that the band won't be universally accepted here (though they are horribly underrated in these parts), and Eisley fans need to accept that there are some loudmouth jerks when opening up to a large-ish rock audience. And that not everyone is going to like Eisley.

I guess you're right. I guess it's just annoying for someone like me to read it because I'm such a huge fan of all three bands on this tour, and I get all uptight when I see lack of respect towards any of them. You're right though, lets hope the thread ends with this.

That guy (TakingOutGlory) was pretty far out of line. No one has trashed NFG in this thread. As far as the fans go, I don't see anything wrong with expressing a distaste for the fans of Reggie and NFG (or anyone for that matter) who are too immature to respect nice people like the DuPrees and Mr. Wilson.

I think it's safe to say that the majority of the forum (there will always be the exception of a few) very much appreciates all NFG has done for Eisley. Whether they choose to like their music or not, many still respect them for giving Eisley the opportunity and exposure they have. I hope all NFG or Reggie fans reading this know that the majority of Eisley fans do not go around bashing those bands, and that they very much respect them for all they have done.

I've hated the idea of this tour from the moment I heard about it, weeks before it was announced. This is exactly why. The point of touring with opening bands is two-fold: 1) Warm up the crowd for the headlining band, and 2) Give the opener exposure to their supposed target demographic. This tour will do little to help promote Eisley, and its obviously not helping the warm-up if some (not all) NFG fans are not taking to the music. Sure, they will pick up fans here and there, but the two genre's are not even close to each other, especially when thrown together during a live show...its like playing Bright Eyes music to people who want to hear Green Day. Not to say its a constant, but people who like Eisley's music won't typically like NFG's music (vice versa), regardless of how much Chad promotes them.

NFG fans are typically high school kids who think they are "punk" for listening to bands like NFG, Blink, Green Day, and Bowling for Soup, not even knowing of bands like the Sex Pistols, The Cure, and Iggy Pop. Eisley fans, while in the same age bracket, are those who look for more melody and "sound" in their music. Their music transends the age too, because older people like the harmonious music and the lyrical "escape" that the music provides.
Eisley won't build a core fan base by touring with big names (I must say, Coldplay was a good idea though). Their music has an under-the-radar sound by nature. They will get big by growing in the underground and sprouting when the time is right. Their headlining tour should do well, but people need to know they are out there. Otherwise, they should be touring with bands like Bright Eyes, Mae, Aqualung, Moby, Snow Patrol, Ryan Adams, The Dresden Dolls, Damien Rice, and all of those other bands that have a following and float below that line of popularity. To have Eisley open for these top 40 bands would be throwing them to the wolves...those types of fans typically care about two things: popularity and familiarity. If thye haven't heard your musice before, they don't care. The same goes for the "punk" music as well. You won't be hearing any Eisley on top 40 radio anytime soon, but it has a good chance of happening in the future. The label just has to do its part to make it cool to listen to Eisley. You need to embrace the people who like that aura of indie fame, and will help push Eisley into the mainstream by not being mainstream.

generalizations get us in trouble from both sides people.

I have friends who are fans of new found glory and reggie and the full effect (did I say that right?), and none of them fit the discriptions you people are giving (highschool 'punk' kids).

really. often times headlining bands choose who they tour with (if they're big enough) based on what they want to listen to (Radiohead does that, I know for a fact). The guys from New Found Glory are fans of Eisley, so they got them to do this tour, it's no biggie. And even if 98% of the new found glory fans hate eisley, there is still the 2% that will love them, which is just that much more for eisley as far as label brownie points goes (right? I guess I coudl be wrong), which means it all works out in the wash really, and since Eisley is touring with a big band, they get to go to more cities than they might if they headline, which means more eisley fans get to see them! So, chill honey bunny, chill.
