Posted: Sun Nov 02, 2003 2:45 pm this is my first post you.re welcome yes i enjoy radiohead from time to time well, minute to minute it seems get to you head does it? gets into mine but only because some of it was already there, the feelings and the thoughts and the dpespair and the triumph i.m glad they became famous even if in a closet sense Quote: Thom: Ok, this is an obvious question. Why did you want to be famous then? Thom: Because I wanted to meet REM and Elvis Costello (laughs) and now I have. But really, we just started making tapes when we were younger. First me on my own, and then me and Jonny, and then with the others. And we'd play them to people, and they'd really like them and they'd take them home and they'd actually play them at home and I was really into this. Or I’d be at a party or something and someone would give me a guitar and I’d play a song. I mean this is all when we were sort of 15, 16 and it was the first time that I found something that I really loved and I suppose that I just loved the attention, so I wanted to be famous, I wanted the attention. What's wrong with that? But there is also something really seriously f---ing unhealthy about it. Thom: You haven't really answered the question. You've said 'oh, I want to be loved'. And that's not the real f---ing reason, is it? I think you're a bit of a f---ing prat. yes it is unhealthy isn.t it? but i.m glad they seem to have recognized it and well dealt with it they.re the best they know it they know people will bite their $#@! in 5 seconds and they move on crapola this was my first post peace rex |

Hey welcome radiocoocoo. I'm sure you will get the hang of where to post. No worries. I just wanted to give you the heads up, before everyone on here pounces on you. We try to keep the use of obscene language off of this board. This is not an attack on you. We just have all ages on here, and we'd like to keep it clean. There may even be something about this in the FAQ section, or somewhere. Since I am mom to 4/5ths of the band, I wanted to let you know in a friendly way, before other's made unwelcome comments to you. WE WELCOME ALL RADIOHEAD FANS ON HERE! They are the best band in the world, well, them and COLDPLAY. So, yeah....WELCOME |

not to get off the subject of the topic, but why don't you (forum admins) set up the censors? I make my forum's censors replace those words with things like "moo" or "cookie". it makes it funny and friendly at the same time okay, so i'm not hijacking the thread, i should throw in my reply. Music does get to your head a lot. Not even just Radiohead, but (good) music in general. Gets to mine, at least. So I agree with you. Dunno how the quotes related to the thread, but they were cool. hehe. Quote: They are the best band in the world D'oh. And I've been telling all my friends that Eisley is the best band in the world. I have a lot of correcting to do with them tonight... |

ive cussed once on here, but then i had to punch myself. j/k. radiohead is good music that sticks in your head, as it mellows me out like no other (except maybe pink floyd). _________________ http://www.audioscrobbler.com/user/Gameboybob/ http://www.xanga.com/home.aspx?user=gameboybob http://www.myspace.com/thegameboy |

On my way to a Radiohead concert in texas me and my friend got in a discussion about the psycological effects of music radiohead has on people. My friend was a major in music theory and he learned in class about the effect music has on the human brain. I dont remeber exactly what he said but he was talking about pitch levels in music and how they are linked to body behavor, A high pitch sound at the right level can make a body tremble or give you tingles up and down the spine. I get this alot when i listen to Radiohead. Im not sure if it is just me or if it just happens to everyone i would like to think there is some weird intention or science behind radioheads music that no one knows about. it kinda keeps the band to its eri brilliance that they have , you know how people are not sure whats intended behind the music or what it really means i cant think of the word right now because my brain feels like ca ca in any rate. the psycological effects on me personaly are way beond my comprehension. and i can only think of two other people in this world that might have a clue what i feel when i listen to radiohead. unfortunatly i can not share that with one of those people anymore but i thank him every day for introducing me to radiohead... psycological effects of Radiohead lyrics to me what can i say about the lyrics really, rather what can anyone say about the music meaninless words put in order to make somthing of the most amasing and inthralling song. brilliance pure $#@! brilliance. im not saying thats the case with every song im thinking more of recent music that thom has wrote. its weird for me i have no idea what those songs mean or what they are conceived apon but yetit gets me through my everyday life. its music that can get me through anything i have spent many hours thinking why the crapola do i like radiohead so much what is it about them that makes me go so insane it makes me normal. when im sad i put somthing on like plearly* the lyrics really dont mean $#@! to me but some how in the back of my mind i understand them subconsiosly. haha i remember the first time i listend to Kid A i was like what the crapola is this brilliant sound comeing out of thoms mouth is it words...i almost need to stop typing this im pulling my hair out trying to figure out the true reasion im such a radiohead fan.. tell you the truth the and it seems to be a reacurring thing for me. the first time i heard pablo honey i was like this is crap......now i love it.. shrugs maybe thats why im such a falure as a radiohead fan...im looking for somthing in the music that isnt there its actually all in my head but i expect it to be there ed once said " We live in a world where bands are held up to be almost super human it's not very healthy thing................................................................. ....... psycological effects of music radiohead ^^^^^^^^^^ if the whole things if hard to understand im sorry but can you understand thoms lyrics ...you should be used to it then |

aside from the cussing and spelling/grammatical errors, you've made some good points. hehe i've been wanting to take music theory, but i haven't been able to fit it into my schedule. A lot of Radiohead songs make me shiver. My brother's friend was taking some kinda classes related to music a couple years ago and he said that they learned about music in movies and how certain notes go with certain moods. Music can does have strong, weird power. |

I never understood the reaction most people have to Radiohead, to be completely honest. They're a good band, perhaps even a great band, but the devotion their fans seem to feel towards them is completely and utterly unfounded. There is absolutely nothing about Radiohead which explains the strange, freakish, obsessive lunacy they seem to induce in most people I know. Therefor I figure the reason for it is very simple: Radiohead fans are just weird. Then again, I'm weird and still don't 'get' Radiohead fans. However, there are artists who make me feel the way Radiohead seems to make Radiohead fans feel. Three of them in fact: the Cocteau Twins, Sun Ra and Brian Eno (also known as the wierdest of all 80's Goth bands, a jazz musician from the planet Saturn, and a cross dressing electronic music pioneer). Of course, those bands aren't much more worthy of the reaction than Radiohead. Essentially, what I'm trying to get at is this: the way Radiohead affects you isn't the product of Radiohead, if anything its the product of you. I'm sure that there's at least one artist who can produce the same reaction in anyone, its just a matter of matching up the rights artists to the right people. Although, I'm sure there's something to be said for a band which can do it to such a vast variety of people (as happens with Radiohead), not quite sure what it is though... Anyways, this post probably makes no sense, I wrote it in that strange state which occurs when your mind wants to switch over to the subconcious, while your body wants to stay up and do whatever it wants to do (dance, write, jerk off...) and didn't really have much of a point going into it, and don't quite know if I closed out with one either. So, yeah. I'll just stop writing now - and try to get some sleep. |
