Some of us have been around a long while (many longer than me) and over the course of that time we've met the band, sipped coffee at some shop, chewed the fat at the merch booth, had some encounter. Many of us have commented on their blogs, sifted through photobuckets, asked questions, got answers. But I can't help but wonder if that needs to stop. There are a lot more Eisley fans than there used to be. I think the board has almost doubled in members since I joined. All those newbs come here looking for answers to the same questions that we asked so long ago, and readily we all answer them, with links and pics to boot. But should we really do that? Is it our right to invade the privacy of the band? Before it was Boyd, Kim, or even one of the members that would give us answers to our questions, now with a board that moves faster than any of them could possibly keep up with, we the fans seem to answer the questions for them...whether or not they want those questions answered. Some things are fine, where the bands been, who their parents are or even who christie and colin are, because neither of them seem to mind. But sometimes, a thread pops up, and it asks something really personal, and I know that maybe it's appeared in an interview somewhere, a little blurb, or maybe one of the band members has said it to you, or some thread existed once that mentioned it, but there have been a ton of threads that needed to be deleted (trust me, i'm the one that asked Kim if they needed to be or not) because someone asked a personal question, and more than one boardie was willing to answer... so i guess...what i'm saying is...maybe we should all think twice before we jump to revealing info, because I don't think the band really wants everyone to know everything anymore. Certainly they've begun to privatize their blogs (which really...should you just give people the links to those things? I mean, at least let them dig for it) and if you look at that one thread where Sherri had to actually come in and say it's no one's business...I'm just thinking it would be a good idea... _________________ welcome to the no pants club boone |

I agree, I mean when do you draw the line? Now that Eisley has gained some commercial success and have an increased fan base, it's harder to be personal with all of your fans. All I know is that Eisley is the most friendly band to their fans that I can think of off the top of my head and they've subjected their lives to the masses through things like myspace and xanga, which normal kids tend to do, but now that Eisley has an increased fan base, they're no longer normal kids. Now with everyday and every time that Telescope Eyes is played on TV, or with every show they play with NFG and Reggie, they then become famous kids. _________________

well, i don't think the problem has to do with how many or how few people there are on the board, but simply the questions being asked. some people just don't have the common sense to not ask some questions and some people don't have the common sense not to answer them if they know the answers, somehow. you're not going to be able to stop that. just like anything with this board it's just becoming more frequent. |

Well Kim is still around to judge what is too personal or not. I'll go with what she has to say _________________ A good way to threaten somebody is to light a stick of dynamite. kyle, sometimes andrew's posts borderline what you are trying to say they mean, but since i have met andrew and talked to him on a few occasions i can't help but vouche for his character here. andrew does not mean to inflate his ego by that post. from any conversation with andrew about eisley i've only gotten the feeling that he only has the best for the band in mind. anyone who has that in mind KNOWS that eisley needs their new fans. anyone who has that in mind knows that most people are attracted by the outright friendlyness that eisley and the duprees give to their fans. i don't believe andrew was trying to take that away. as far as i know he has permission from boyd for all of those mp3s on OGG. MOST of those mp3s were originally chads anyway. from reading andrew's post carefully, you can plainly see that what he meant was that we shouldn't give away info on the band's personal life. he took the thread where sherri was asked if she broke up with jesse lacey as an example and i will too. nobody, not andrew, not me, not you, not any new fan, not any old fan, nobody, needs to know that unless sherri feels the need to give that information out. |

granpaturtle wrote: i just mean that before it was easier for the band to connect to their fans and now its not. WHY? Why is it more difficult now? It's not more difficult because there are more fans.....or the Forum is busier.....the reason the band members don't post here as much as they used to is simply because as they get more popular, they are busier, like this greuling NFG tour. They just don't take time to come here, because they don't have time. This is EXACTLY why people like You and I, and others who are closer to the band, or who may have "inside information"....NEED to post here, and NEED to share the information with the Newbies.....not withhold it from everyone!! Boyd and Kim and the band members aren't here as much anymore to correct misinformation, or answer simple questions. I will send you a private message about the rest. |

Wow, I sense some anger, but I can easily understand both sides of this argument. OK, yes, it is true that Eisley is very personal with their fans, but they do draw the line when necessary. On the other hand, it is very true that certain Qs and As shouldn't be given out, and if they are violating their very personal privacy, the moderators will take care of it. Why can't we all just get along? I think that those who have been fans of Eisley for a long time need to become friends with the newbies and answer certain questions that they need answers to. Once again, if they are too personal, the moderators will take care of it. I was once a newbie myself and I have wondered certain things that granpaturtle said. There is a line and a limit to everything, guys. If I was still a newbie (I don't think I am still one, am I?), I would be somewhat offended by what this thread talked about, but you know what? People need to stop taking things so personal here. I, myself, have found that I was involved in offending people in the past, and I am sorry about that. Let's stay like a big, ever-growing family, guys! I love all of you! (Or do I?? lol) Peace out, buddies! ABBAgirl _________________ ewe's not fat, ewe's fluffy! www.myspace.com/abbagirl2 |

As far as very personal info., such as gossip about Sherri's boyfriend, etc., Myself or anybody that i know who may be a friend of the band, or would know such information, would never come here to post about that, never even THINK about posting stuff like that. BUT, someone did, some person with no respect. WE CANNOT CONTROL that, other than to lock the thread, or delete it, which is what the Forum Moderators are for. To Censor the Forum by withholding basic information from others is just wrong. |

very good points from granpa. I think that if the questions get to personal, they should be nixed by the board adminstrator. I think this board is amazingly open, and it's cool to be able to converse with family members of the band. However, I also think we need to allow the band to have their own little cocoon, when it's time for them create their next few records. I want them to go to that safe PRIVATE place they go to when they create music. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask that we allow these artists some personal space. That said, I do have tons of questions on equipment, pedals for the guitar they are using, type of drums.... type of mics used in the studio, and whether Room Noises was recorded to tape, or was a Pro Tools recording (digital). At some point I'll start a new thread on those questions. _________________ Myspace Artist Webpage |

Ok...i'm a newbie here... And yes i really like Eisley and all the members here...they're really nice and all. Yet, some of the members here especially the old ones who are fiercely in love with this band, will easily get offended by any talk or minor joke about some members of the band, however minor it is. I guess this goes to show that Eisley have some fiercely protective fans. I understand what granpaturtle is trying to say in the first post, but yet kinda feel left out by it...feel like an outsider...outside of Eisley warm friendly zone...outside of yeah...i'm blabbering... |

There is a definite Inner Party/Outer party vibe sometimes...it happens _________________ A good way to threaten somebody is to light a stick of dynamite. Then you call the guy and hold the burning fuse up to the phone. "Hear that?" you say. "That's dynamite, baby."-Jack Handey |

If you think this is bad, you should go to a larger board. On the Interpol board there's personal information being tossed around like nothing. And to my knowledge there aren't any close relatives to confirm or deny. Don't quote me on that.
