Addendum to the Ad that follows:
We Have Our Sound Engineer!!
The BoydEisley Ad worked... the job is officially secured, no more need to respond or tell friends about this opportunity. He responded exactly as I hoped, along with others, send a resume' thru my ghost email account... I responded with questions, contacted his references, talked at length with them before calling him. Score.

I appreciate you guys so much... what an amazing resource. Turns out, this guy is a friend of gRegor, though gRegor new nothing about the ad or the position; He's an Indiana boy. Good ears, great technology, experience, smart, great values/morals, hardworking, good attitude, teachable... friends/references/associates said, "he's your guy". It's never a sure thing... sound is tough. You can't say, "let's see what you've got kid" until you have them in front of a board in a room with a band on stage. In this case, we can't audition him, so... we're going by doing the best research we can, talking a lot, questioning much, being cautious... and from there, it's blind faith. From talking to him, I like him and think he'll do just fine.

sweet. thanks again.
oh, his name is Mark. bd

--------------------------------------------------------------
I posted this in the Summer Scenic section, but I haven't received any leads or clues or responses yet. If any of you know a friend or whoever, that would also help. I edited / slightly amended the ridged restrictions a little. I made the comment that I was in search of the "perfect sound guy" but, no one is perfect. HELP!:

Boydeisley Want Ad

By perfect Sound Engineer, I mean... a young, talented guy (could it be a girl? I've only met 2 in all our travels) with amazing experience; a technoid and and artist/musician wrapped up in one; one who's mixed for years (if, even counting youth, like at his church or anything)...wherever: hopefully - in venues, in rooms wy/ PA's of all types, sizes...

...someone who's chased wires, eq'd rooms, mixed and eq'd vocals, knows how to mix a live show because he's really a young producer in the making... is willing to load, unload, work like a dog for a weekly salary that would offend a high-school drop out, but wants to tour the country with Eisley and have the time of their life... and be a candidate for "the one"... tho chosen "sound one" to grow into the position that Dan of Coldplay did for those guys. Disclaimer and fear factor: Mixing on the heels of Mike will be a tough act to follow.

Kindred Spirit
Oh, and we have to be on the same page. That means morals and language and behavior and work ethic and coolness... Van tours are tough. Small space. No way to sleep very well while driving. A little person would work better. ha ha.. no joke.

Listening, A good ear, getting it...
Greater Detail on Qualifications Oh, and it would be NICE if he/she had some kind of effects rack and be able to sweetlize the sound in some of these crappy, small rooms. Oh, and there would have to be an acute adoration of Eisley's music... a willingness to listen to the record hundreds of times so that there's no guessing where various instruments and vocal levels should be... and he/she should hear deeply how understand how and where the harmonies balance out - who's on top, who's on bottom, when to push a guitar solo, when to push the rhodes... the or when to whetten up the vocals with a bit of reverb, etc. Producing live means emulating the record. If you really know the record, you'll know what it should sound like live.,

Getting to Texas or San Diego
Ok. That should do it. Oh, and you'd probably have to get to Texas to work with the band for a few shows before leaving for San Diego. Now I've narrowed it further. Now you understand why I don't have this position filled. But I'm praying for the impossible. (sounds like a televangelist. horrors. I detest them.)

Contact Me
Anyone who comes close to this - give me a shout at my old extinct yahoo account. I'm only gonna check this for the next few weeks, then it's going back into extinction: boydd57@yahoo.com. Serious inquiries only. No flakey wanna-be's with big ego's. References a must. NOTE: just send me a pm to get the conversation going.

Also... note: there are currently 20 "guests" on line in the middle of the day on a Monday afternoon! (slightly more than the number of users) Do any of YOU guys have a great contact? Some of you might be indusry people... use the email address above if you desire to remain as a conciencious lurker.

Please Help. Thanks. boyd

Tick, Tick, Tick... it's been 10 minutes. Still no response. I can see I'm going to have to start deleting user accounts at random until the perfect soundguy emerges from rank and file. I can't control myself. I cannot be held responsible for what I'm about to do if you don't respond. I'm warning you....

delete. I just deleted 50 of you. Who's next! Feel lucky!?

You seriously have no idea how many people are banging their heads against computer screens right now because they don't have skills.

Daaaag yo. Are you sure you don't need someone to like, oh, make you tea, or read your narnia outloud in a british accent? i'm really good at both those things.

now i wish i had gotten more sound experience...i can help with crew?

9:30 club people are usually quite good with sound (specifically gus, damien, and a few others). they go out on tour occassionally but i'm not sure if any of them are into eisley or anything. i know a fellow door staffer who used to do sound for shows at a youth center in san diego, and is looking to get into it at 9:30, but you have to work your way up to those positions. she majored in music at college and took some workshops on how to do sound, but has never toured with a band for it or worked at big venues. i can ask her if you're interested, but she doesn't have a ton of experience or know eisley very well (i was talking to her about them the other day...she worked both the NFG and Snow patrol stops at the 9:30 club). so...yes...i hope that helps a little. i'm going to check around and see if i can find anyone else.

If this ad was for "camera guy," I would so totally be in. Alas, I am wholly unskilled. I will, however, remember this in case I run across a soundboard person. Confused

Darn me and my lack of experience. I can do mixing but I haven't had enough experience with it. That and I'm too young and don't have the ability to get a plane ticket to Texas because of stupid stupid school(no, I am not downing education, I'm just sick to death of school).

I've been the soundman at my church for over 7 years, but I probably don't quite fit the bill for what you're looking for. All I pretty much do is mix and record services. (I am small though... 6' 140lbs...)

Good luck with your search. If I was experienced, i'd DEFINALTEY would want to do it.

But if you need someone one can throw himself into a wall, get up, and do it again, buzz me.

I don't know any sound guys or gals. I wish I had the experince, I've always wanted to travel like that for some strange reason. But alas no real behind the scenes talent here.
Hope you get lucky with the search soon.
