Head Against The Sky was my favorite Eisley song for a long time. There were contenders for second place like Lost at Sea and Marvelous Things. Trolly Wood is pretty high up there too. But last night at the bowery show I realized that another song I had not thought too much of at first, a dark horse candidate if you will, has stolen the contest. A song that I sort of dismissed as a little odd when I first heard it, but began to grow on me little by little. As they got deeper and deeper into the setlist last night, I found myself hoping that every next song would be this one. And when they played it last and it was the absolutely perfect ending to a wonderful show, it hit me that Tree Tops just might be the best Eisley song EVER. I find that I always want to hear that chorus one more time, which is a classic songwriting trick that works every time. If you can make em want to skip back and listen to the song again before proceeding to the next track, that's golden. That combined with the totally uplifting chorus lyric completely seal the song for me. "I'll float above the ocean. The sun above is burning my head. I will grow wings and fly everywhere" It's just beautiful. Oh, Tree Tops, how I love thee so. So what's YOUR favorite, and why? _________________ No no no no no no way, sir. |

yeah, HEAD against the Sky was my fav for the longest cus its just an oldie but a goodie (have u heard that sayin before?). but my #1 fav will have to be MARVELOUS THINGS or TREE TOPS. But Marvelous Things is one of the few songs that intrigued me from the begining. I think MT will have to take the cake !!! |

There is definately a certain magic in Tree Tops when it is played live. That magic was not captured on the recorded version which appears on the Laughing City EP. Maybe that magic is something that can never BE recorded...maybe it's something that is conjured up only during the dynamics of live performance, brought to life by 5 people in real time.... If i had to pick one song overall though, it would be Marvelous Things. I was so hoping that it would be completely remade, and a proper, magical video be produced for it. Oh well. |

I'd probably have to agree with you on that. As much as I love all the other songs, I find myself relistening to Tree Tops the most, yet I never thought about listing it as a favorite song until several days ago. If I had to make a list, it would be: 1. Tree Tops 2. Marvelous Things 3. Over the Mountains and Head Against the Sky There's something about those four songs that's just wonderful. |

Favorite Eisley song? It seems to be a different one every now and then... Right now though... it's definitely "They All Surrounded Us"... I mean, seriously... how can you not like a song that starts off with Sherri saying... "This next song is about a dragon". That's just... way cool, etc. |

Oooh good call on Over the Mountains. I think the Laughing City version of Tree Tops comes far closer to capturing the spirit of the band live than the Telescope Eyes EP version. There's definitely something odd happening on the TE EP Tree Tops that I can't quite put my finger on. But while we're on the subject of the TE EP, Vintage People! Not on Room Noises, why?? Room Noises should have been like, 19 songs long. _________________ No no no no no no way, sir. |

I think I agree with the general consensus for the top three: "Tree Tops," "Head Against the Sky," and "Marvelous Things." They all have such masterful compositions, glorious lyrics, and dynamic performances. _________________ INTELLECT AND ROMANCE OVER BRUTE FORCE AND CYNICISM Smokemonster |

Golly Sandra, for too many reasons. Probably the main reason is it is just a really well written song. _________________ Power is only pain It’s probably better to have him inside the tent pissing out, than outside the tent pissing in.
