Wow...I think everyone should take off their gloves. How can any of us know what Austin guy's life is like? Just as he should not make assumptions on any of you guys, but once attacked, everyone on the planet gets defensive. I never understand why people on here get so bent out of shape over comments like he made. The things he said, are the things he feels, and whether any of us Texans like what he says, it is his right to say and feel those things. As a person, he deserves to be cared about, regardless of the trials he is facing. Even if they seem unwarrented by others. Let's not run off Eisley fans by getting all defensive about Texas. This is just where we live. I really don't mind Texas, (except for the heat), and I have been to lots of other places while out on tour with the band. For me, CA is not my kind of thing. Especially LA, but there is certainly nothing wrong with him wanting to be in LA over Texas, and maybe he has had plenty of encounters with over zealous, Bible weilding, backward Texas citizens that do not represent the gospel or the State as they should. BTW...this post gets one warning from the insults category. Again, I request, let's all take the gloves off. His original intent was to express his appreciation of Eisley, so I consider him a friend of Eisley and should be treated as such. peace out ~ kd P.S. Kyle, you did not offend me. No worries! |

I was a little too hostile.. you'll have to forgive me- there are so many people in my life that only want to shoot me down. That's why I tend to be so defensive. That seems like their only purpose in life is to discredit creativity. People absolutely HATE the creative mindset, because it opens a can of worms they are not prepared to deal with. All their stupid little universities and their stupid little 'degrees.' I have a degree in art, but that doesn't mean I'm "a better person than you." Do you understand what I saying? My father is an English professor and my mother has been an elementary school teacher before I was even born. I know that whole world inside out and it doesn't impress me in the least. 'Education' is a factory populated by droids. I'm not insinuating that anyone should not educate themselves, I just don't think the current system in place is working, and I think it is virtually evil. "Here in my had I hold all the knowledge you need." What a crock. Look at all the practically illiterate people in our society. It's obvious that it's not working out. From my experience, real knowledge doesn't even come from school. I'm a huge fan of home schooling by the way. Once again, I apologize. I was too mean. |

i didn't have time to read all of this. meh... was told about some of the match. I don't care. I got what Mark was saying. I get what everyone says. I'm get everything. That's my problem. I get it. I totally get it. I do get tired of music industry people saying, "oh, he totally gets it"... because, it's me that totally gets it. not them. I get it. not them. i'm KiDdInG! And Mark, if you're out there... i totally get you. no worries. Anyway, on a "Proud to be a Texan" note. One thing I love about Texas is: SPACE. In New York and LA, I drive around all angst and bent - just trying to find a parking space. Add the trailer to the van and you can forget it. I love the fact that in Texas, our parking lots are as big as JR Ewings "South Fork Ranch". You can park doublewides between every line... You need binoculars to see the end of the lot. yeah baby. fat concrete slabs flanked by hot belts of green grass... I love Texas and I miss it when we only sleep a handful of nights in our beds since February. I do admit, these small towns are old fashion. Actually ya'll, most of the small towns in this country are that way... in Kansas, in N. Dakota, in Oregon, in Arizona, in Illinois... you name it; we've been there, driven thru them.. talked to folk at gas stations. Find a small town in rural America and you're feeling the fabric. Dairy Queens, Churches, Post Offices, Homes....families; God bless America. But... I understand what Mark was saying. He said really nice words. I appreciate it. I do get it. I totally get it. And that's my point. _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead. Jeez, these things always blow up after I say something and get too busy to check back. I have a love-hate relationship with this state, but I really do like it. I want to move away for a while, but I'm not sure I could stay away forever. But I'm definitely defensive about it, and I do know the grass is NOT greener on the other side of the border. However, I think the entire world holds some bad opinion/false idea of this state, and I've just grown to ignore it for the most part. Everyone has the right to think what they'd like. A lot of people have some bad/false ideas about L.A., too. (I've especially noticed that here, interestingly.) Not everyone has had the greatest Texas experience. There's a better way to show that Texans are intelligent, normal and even creative people than to get in a shouting match. Heck, there are better ways to put up with people we don't always get along with too. So hopefully we can all shake hands and learn a little about each other. And return to whatever the topic here might have been. _________________ My photography:www.jamiemphoto.com You can't spell awesome without emo...backwards! -Julie definingawesome (11:44:11 PM): Eisley shivers our timbers |

Actually, everyone I saw was a bunch of stoners. If thats what you like to call open minded and intellectually advanced, ok. Although the Hooters was something only dreams are made of. You mad me laugh HARD. Thank you. I know, you're first impression of L.A. is not going to make any sense at all. It's definately not for everyone.. (I don't smoke weed by the way.. I'm more the mixed drink kind of guy) all I'm saying is that L.A. is where I belong and I'm going to have leave Tx. even though it's going to tear me apart, leaving my daughter behind because we are so close. Well, I'm glad you got a giggle out of what I said. Now how about stopping the Texas Bashing? KINKY FOR GOVERNER!!! Kinky Friedman. He came in the store a few days ago. I don't know much about the guy, but he seemed pretty nice. _________________ Jamie (the female version) |

I have traveled and I can verify that the grass is not greener anywherem and people have funny ideas about Texas. I met a friend's mom when I was living in Seattle and she asked, "Where's your accent?" She actually had trouble believing that I was from Texas. There are only a couple of other places I might want to live (San Diego, the Peninsula in Western Washington and parts of Australia), but I wouldn't say that I prefer any of them to Austin, Texas. They all just have different appeal and different drawbacks. I think one of the biggest mistakes people make is believing that they have things figured out. No matter how well you define your surroundings, no matter how well you anticipate the people around you, they will always find a way to surprise you. If they do not surprise you, then you are probably not paying attention. JD _________________ "Well, hopefully that's our job, to strap rockets onto everything." - Adam Savage, Mythbusters |
