I know some people may not have noticed this, but i'm sick of on gj (greatestjournal.com) the majority of eisley icons are of stacy and sherri. what about weston, chauntelle and garron? i think chauntelle is as gorgeous as both of them, maybe even more. (no offence intended or anything, but she is and looks a lot more `matured`.) |

Some that drive me crazy: *they're a "Christian band" - so many people won't give their music a chance if they hear that *anything that was said in the Rolling Stone review *"are they huge star wars nerds?" oh and to the gangsta comment, I swear I saw a picture of Sherri giving the west side sign |

This whole article gave me a kick... why we like them? We have to salute the talented youngsters of Eisley for their fantasy-infused, imaginative brand of music, which comes as a bit of a relief from other teen-pop offerings. Dorky rock was never so cool. why are they famous? Texas rockers Eisley got their first taste of wide exposure while opening for Coldplay in 2003. Following up on the success of their 2003 EP Marvelous Things, they released their debut record, Room Noises, in February of 2005. |

i hate when people look at me funny when i tell them about the band and their music and then say something to the effect of, "you're a boy listening to chick rock?" a-grrrr! _________________ THE AUDIOSCROBBLER! My Beloved Xangatron! El mYspaceico |

And that the "melodies just go up and down." well, you know, that's funny, because I thought that's what most good melodies do. Go up and down. Eisley's specific melodies go up and down and over top of each other in such lovely ways though. Clever harmonies and overlapping tunes. Well, offering some practical experience/knowledge here. At least in the western world in regard to Classical music, in studies of music theory/musicology, melodies are ideally wavelike (particularly with 4 part choral music), moving up and down in the short term, and in the long term. Of course, with modern popular music, things are quite a bit more jumpy, and certainly that is the case at some points with Eisley (the jumps into headvoice), though often times the harmonies are fairly static (I think that's the Radiohead influence and what provides an extent of the creepiness). The "up and down" motion has great musical benefits at times, as does the static, and the jumps. I think music with large leaps can be so much more emotive than music of the past, though obviously that is not always the case as it can be distracting if the leaps aren't negotiated well. |

I even thought this for awhile when i first got into them till i read that AP? article with Sherri and how they labled the bag of balls "ball sack" or something along those lines. That cracked me up. They are some funny kids. I thought the same thing. |
