Personaly I think its funny how people are so intolerant of lyrics that go against there personal beliefs. I mean your friends are seriously missing out on on some great bands by refusing to listen to songs that have to do with a religion they don't believe.

Should Eisley not listen to Modest Mouse because of lyrics like these http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/modestmouse/jesuschristwasanonlychild.h tml ? I mean they personaly are "christans" and the song calls their savior a little $#@!!

lyrical tolerance.....thats all I am saying.

profit. its one reason i became an aetheist. started to notice a lot of corruption around me.

WOW...whoa...you must be a very confident person to deny the existence of a divine deity...

Yeah, I can see that, but I must speak on behalf of my Uncle Ritchie (Brennan) Who is a Christian author. He certainly doesn't do it for the money, or any fame he's achieved (consider Kim's quote, He's fairly well known) he just feels compelled to write these books by his own faith in God, not to exploit him. And believe me, there is corruption, one of the reasons why he left the priesthood, but we're surely not all like that.

Haha, A friend of mine is what I like to call a "cult-like" Christian. She condemns, judges, and must think herself to be a God , since she always wants to control everyone, but she's a HUGE fan of Modest Mouse, john Lennon, ect. Isaac & John obviously have/had disagreements with the existence of a God, And I have disagreements with that, but I still love their music, and respect their opinions, BUT, if you're going to say someone is going to hell for enjoying the Harry Potter series, and then turn around and listen to rock&roll, you my friend are a hypocrite. I believe in tolerance in general.

You became atheist because of the corruption of Christians? What does that have to do with anything?

If one chooses to become atheist, I think it should be for the sole reason, and I'm just throwing this out there, that one does not believe God...

Don't you think you should base your decision on what you believe, and not what others actions entail?

I know a lot of people who have left organized religion because something in that religion was corrupt. But atheism is another thing. I can't really understand why someone would believe and then not believe because of people. Find a new church maybe, but quit believing in God?

Yes, like in my case, I have left the church for personal reasons, I felt my church was turning in a way against God. Everything became very political, and don't get me wrong, these religions in general have always had political backing, but this was too much for my liking. now Sunday mornings we just watch Joel Olsteen, now he's really great. In my own opinion of course.

Religion and belief or disbelief are just an opinion. I just can't imagine myself losing my belief because of people. Maybe my religion but not my belief. Probably enough said on that though. Pretty far off topic. And to each their own.

hey, now. it looks like you're kind of new. have you read the rules? this could be borderline offensive, possibly more depending on who you're talking to. but welcome to the boards, anyhow.

haha, you guys make it sound like i have a vendetta against all Christians or something. everyone i know and care about is Christian, so trust me when i say i have nothing against the Christian people.

did i not just say that that was only one reason? i believe in evolution and logic, as in: there is a logical reason for everything.

dang people; dont throw my words out of proportion.

Well I am Catholic and as Catholics we believe that through God evolution happend.

Um, you said that if Eisley was a Christian band that you would kill yourself - isn't that a little bit contradicting since you like them now but if they were to suddenly label themselves as being a "Christian band" then you would basically hate them?

Whatever, I always get really worked up over this sort of stuff.
I think it's crazy.

How can there be a Christian Bookstore? Is the store going to die and go to heaven some day?

Anyway, for those who don't like "Christianity", I hope you are not basing your descision on what you see on TV. Those TV evangelists are an embarrassment to real Christians. Also, there are tons of people who also call themselves Christian, but really are not, and give Christianity a bad name. And of course, there are some who I guess may truely be Christian, but are not acting very Christ-like. I think if you really examined what Christianity is SUPPOSED to be, you really wouldn't have a problem with it.

Example: if I told you Chevrolet was the best cars, but the only examples I showed you were ones in junk yards, you probably wouldn't like Chevy either. But again, this is NOT how they're supposed to be. You'll never ever find a Christian who always acts like a Christian should.
