Yeah, she just turned 15 in October. As I understand it (from reading info on the site and posts from the band), she and Weston (17) are homeschooled.

I've always been really curious about homeschooling, I tend to think about these things when I'm loaded down with term papers, physics homework, calculus work, government reading, etc. Is there a some sort of test you have to take each year or an examination that's the equivalent of getting a highschool diploma?

You have to take all of the standardized tests that the public schoolers take, as well as keep a record of what all you've done and what grades you've received in the subjects--at least that's how it works where I've been.

I was homeschooled for about 4 years here and there growing up.

It was quite fun.

Oddly enough, I always tell Boyd and Kim that my family was friends with another homeschool family that had a bunch of blonde teenage girls and their last name was Dupree.

But that was in Michigan.

Depends on the state and the parents. When I was in high school, I had less sleep and social life than most people I knew. It was far more regular for me to stay up past midnight working on a paper or proof than go out and have fun. By comparison, college was a vacation. There aren't always tests. Most places don't care about high school accreditation, any fake diploma is fine. You can always take a GED if you need something the government recognizes. Any one who can hack a year of home schooling can pass a GED in their sleep. As for the rest, PSAT and SAT are mostly optional, though I took them. Just don't make the mistake my parents did and downplay the PSAT. As far as scholarships in state schools (at least in Texas) go, it's far more important.

I've known a handful of homeschooled people. Definitely enough to know that sterotypes of any kind are useless.
Wait, I don't want it to sound like I was saying anyone here was stereotyping ...

I heart Family Guy. It's where I learned my values from.

Shocked
