Well, I was flipping around on wikipedia, and, i decided "hey, i'll search Eisley" sure enough, theirs a page on Eisley and for each band member. But what I feel is rude is that it has sections for each member entitled "Immediate family", basically stating all their siblings, relatives, and their boyfriend/girlfriends. And, on some, containing links to the members personal sites (xanga, myspace, etc.) now, this may just be me blabbering, but i find this to be an extreme invasion of their privacy and is pretty rude. so, their you go, my rant.

I checked it out to see. Did seem a bit personal, but seems like most of it is stuff you could find just by coming to this forum.

Mostly I was just really disappointed 'cos they had quotes and one of Sherri's was "I don't believe in whales." What a buncha crock... Whales are pretty much the best thing God ever created! Especially Orca's---but techincally, they are dolphins, so maybe Sherri isn't so bad after all...

Well I learned something. I never knew they sang on the Head Automatica album, and I own it. So I went through it looking for their names and found under the people they thank 'Staci and Sheri'. They misspelt both their names.

So are you the one who took if off! That's my favorite Sherri quote!

And to the original post, I think Madison wrote the immediate family stuff.

Hah, you have to look at Sherri's individual page to see the quote, not the Eisley one. It's still up.

I know, I put it on the Sherri page, but someone took it off her quote section.

I'm not going to speculate if they think its an invasion of privacy, because that would be an invasion of privacy. But, in my opinion, I'd be happy to have a page myself. Wikipedia is an acceptable source for journalism, essay's, canadian parlimentary debate facts, and I'm sure a bunch of other pretty important venues. I mean, since everything is becoming electronic, these will be our 'library archives' in hundreds of years, and for example, Sherri Dupree, and her siblings, and semi close aquaintainces are now all going to continually be rememered in a source of such magnitude.

Maybe instead of using Enclycopedias for essay's in the future, on topics such as music in the early 21st Century, the wikipedia article for Eisley will get discovered, and The Dupree's infamous.

Well, the idea behind it is that when you get many people contributing, it's more likely that you can get closer to an objective truth (through the multitude of subjective views, I suppose). I've found Wikipedia to be surprisingly accurate most of the time, because the contributors of every topic are so passionate about that particular thing, and the disinclined don't bother to try to screw it all up. And the possibilities are simply greater than you could find in a normal encyclopedia, because of the open source nature. Don't expect Eisley to be in a published encyclopedia.

As for being a credible source of information, I wouldn't quote Wikipedia in a thesis, but I use it all the time for quick reference. I trust it as much as I trust the History Channel. Probably more.
