Sherri's voice is sharp and crisp, like a bell sound. Stacy's voice is full and rich, like a violin. Sherri's voice gives me the chills (in a good way). Stacy's voice makes me melt. Chauntelle's voice is sweet and airy like a clarinet. I love all of their voices, they work so well together. |

Another good song to hear the differences in their voices is I Wasn't Prepared. Sherri sings the first verse solo and Stacy sings lead on the second with Sherri doing descant harmony. Sherri has a higher voice with a more penetrating quality, not unlike the sound in traditional country and mountain music singing. She also does something distinctive with sustained notes by starting with a small mouth opening and then getting wider as the note progresses. This gives a bell-like effect or even something like a wah-wah pedal or mute. Stacy's voice is pitched lower and has a rounder, airier sound. I remember reading a concert review where the critic commented on the clear and pure timbre of Stacy's voice. The differences in their voices seems to pose a challenge for the guys running the sound board at concerts. At the Switchfoot tour concerts I saw, Stacy seemed undermiked and I think that might be because Sherri's voice has more presence through the P.A. One thing for sure is that Sherri and Stacy's voices blend wonderfully. From the little I've heard of Chauntelle's singing, I'll join the chorus asking for the three of them to try something together. It would probably be gorgeous. _________________ Sing again, with your dear voice revealing A tone Of some world far from ours, Where music and moonlight and feeling Are one. --Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792–1822) |

theenvycorps wrote: stacy sounds like tape, sherri like digital That's a pretty good analogy. I can see (hear?) it. _________________ Sing again, with your dear voice revealing A tone Of some world far from ours, Where music and moonlight and feeling Are one. --Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792–1822) |

Stacys voice in that song is really rich and deep. and Sherri's is sharp, and her voice is clear as crystal _________________ F L I C K R . ////\\\\ |
