A quick poll to find out how many languages you speak. In Europe people say Americans only speak English and sometimes Spanish. I'd like to find out. I speak English, French, Italian, Dutch, some German, some Modern Greek and a couple of sentences in Norwegian and Irish Gaelic. Please specify which languages you speak. _________________ http://www.eisley-italia.tk ! "Δῶς μοι πᾶ στῶ καὶ τὰν γᾶν κινάσω"

Well, that's pretty true. But not true of every American. I only know one language, but I know little bits of Spanish, too. Unless you live in a state that touches Mexico, it's not as pressing to know other languages, basically. Or it seems from my experience ... You don't have to communicate nearly as much on a daily basis with people who can't speak any English. But anyway, I really would like if more languages were introduced at earlier ages in schools. I want to be able to really speak Spanish, and not just understand bits and pieces. And I'd also like to know several other languges. Maybe one day I'll get to spend some time in other countries to try to pick up some ... But I know if/when I have kids, they're going to get exposed to other languages much earlier. _________________ My photography:www.jamiemphoto.com You can't spell awesome without emo...backwards! -Julie definingawesome (11:44:11 PM): Eisley shivers our timbers |

I answered 2 languages in the poll but that's not accurate. I only know English fluently but I also still remember some of the French I learned. We tend to start learning French in middle school here in Canada and by the time I graduated high school I could carry on a basic conversation and read pretty well. I also speak Punjabi, an Indian language, badly although my understanding is decent because some of my family speaks to me in Punjabi but I always answer back in English. _________________ Kulvir. |

I only know English fluently. I should have learned Spanish, since a large part of California only knows Spanish. I took French for about 5 years, but I never use it. I think if I lived in France for a while, (or another French speaking country) I could pick it up pretty fast. I have a "Teach yourself Italian" book. But I haven't made time to really use it yet. |

I took three years of German in high school, so I'm fairly familiar with the language (due to a piss-poor instructor though, my vocabulary is miniscule at best). I also know some Japanese (took a year of it in high school) and a few phrases of Spanish and French. _________________ Coprophiliacs make sh*tty lovers.
