just when I think I'm starting to know some things, I read fresh, enlightening, honest words from you guys and realize how important this forum is. I realize there are extremes being voiced, defining the highs and lows - which is awesome; this is like the best market research. Like, unregistered's comments... it's so insightful. bd _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead. i'm totally with you, unregistered. i've heard of so many good indie bands through this forum and fans of eisley and eisley themselves.. it's almost overwhelming. but so cool. because now i can look at the list of bands playing south by southwest and go "hey! those guys are good! let's go see them." _________________ hello. |

Even if you make posters for each member, fans will have favorites and it can quickly stop being about the band. (making posters featuring individual members is also a good way to make money, though) Heh, yeah.. individual posters.. you know that will only lead to the members trying out side-solo-projects. Then we'll have a repeat of N'Sync and Justin Timberlake.. I've seen it a hundred times. In answer to Kim's question, I see lots of bling bling, Cadillacs, and parties with P Diddy, yo. _________________ "The revolution starts today, not tomorrow." :: got g-Love? |

maybe someone in the band should learn polka. are there any polka radio stations? that could be huge. i agree...no individual posters. that's never (ever) crossed my mind. but, I can see Stacy and Justin teaming up, of course. _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead. Really ... as long as there are five individual posters, I don't see the big deal. Unless the band compares sales. In which case, they should start comparing download statistics and such. I think it would be neat to buy all five, hand them side-by-side and enjoy an artsy looking giant poster thing. _________________ My photography:www.jamiemphoto.com You can't spell awesome without emo...backwards! -Julie definingawesome (11:44:11 PM): Eisley shivers our timbers |

they should make a buch of individual posters that when put together make a very large picture of the whole band yes, we should change "donuts" to Eisleys _________________ "Let's play chickenball!" http://www.myspace.com/near_harad |

Boyd said: "Maybe someone in the band should learn polka. are there any polka radio stations? that could be huge." If you slowed it down a bit, you could waltz to it. I think that waltzes are much more in keeping with Eisley's style and aesthetic personally. I can't imagine anything better than sweeping that special someone across the dance floor to the lilting music of Eisley. Polka is scary, but the dancing is even scarier. It only exists in Wisconsin, and I think they do it just to keep warm Sorry I ain't groovin' like I used to (I've been gone for awhile), Theogenes _________________ The pain and the longing, the joy and the moments of light, are the rhythm and rhyme, the free verse of the poem of life. |

It's hard to say how successful Eisley will be, isn't it? They seem to have quite a wide appeal - my 7 year old sister will love em and so will my Jazz-loving Dad. Even if they don't make it to U2/Radiohead status they may make it to a kind of Flaming Lips status, although that's grown quite a lot since Yoshimi...What's the aim of the band? It's pretty obvious that they're not into the whole "rock star" thing, and they seem more about the pursuit of good art rather than anything else, which usually means that they're fiercely loved by some and others just say "yeah i've heard of them but i've never really listened to their stuff". Secretly, (or maybe not so secretly now) I hope that they gain some kind of middle-ground in the industry where they have a good team behind them (which they clearly do) and a long-lasting record deal. Hopefully they'll be one of these "well respected" bands with a tight fanbase like Teenage Fanclub or Mercury Rev, or maybe Mazzy Star or Counting Crows. I'm 21 now, and it'd be awesome to keep growing up with Eisley. Rob |
