I was listening to the radio this morning and heard an advert from the Mississippi tourism board and the jingle totally ripped off I Wasn't Prepared! Same chords and rhythm but they sang "Weeee wish you were here." or something close. It was kinda cool. Smile

Hmmmm. Alright, I'm going into her dreams to find out where she got the melody and chord progression...

I may need a kick to get back. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3Kvu6Kgp88

I guess the part that sounds like IWP is in the middle of her song. You can hear some of what leads up to it on that Amazon link Cubs posted.

http://alvaleigh.com/ go to her page right there and it's in the player a few songs down. She sounds like the new deeper voiced Stacy a bit on it, but a little lower register as far as her phrasing and vocal ticks.

Yeah, that hook really sounds like it in the context of the song, cause the rest doesn't...

There's another song on a commercial other than that one for Target or something that has that Eisley sound to it.

Wow, that sounds like kind of a blatant ripoff to me.

Edit: The commercial snippet, haven't listened to the whole song

to be fair the chord progression on the chorus of IWP is C to Em. So it is pretty obvious that other people, at some point would use the same progression for something.

(as an asidie the beatles song "Fool On The Hill" starts with a progression of C to Em when Paul sings "Day after day, alone on a hill" and the Pink Floyd song "One Of My Turns" also starts with the same two chords with the words "day after day, love turns grey." wired same chords, same first line"

but anyway. so, and I am no music guy, using only those two chords, there would be quite the chance that one would have a similar melody right?

maybe. I dont know.

i don't think anyone is just talking just about the chord progression - it's the very Dupree vocal and then the very similar arrangement.

there was some Eisley song that someone said had the same chords as the opening part to Strawberry Fields Forever.

Looks like johnip's comments were removed from the youtube comments regarding the similarity. Did you remove those or did VisitMSCoast remove them?

She does sound like Stacy but sometimes she sings with a really heavy vibrato. I like the song Scoundrel on there.

Speaking of ripping off a DuPree, a tweet popped up recently that said "Only one thing on Earth makes me afraid: When my rostral anterior cingulate cortex fails to dampen hyperactivity in my amygdala." I thought it was another one of Boyd's sleep deprivation posts but it turned out to be Conan O'Brien.
