I know someone who does, and their husband already came out supporting the kickstarter early on: Mr. Neil Gaiman's better half. I'm sure should could spare 40K of her KS money, in exchange for maybe having Eisley play as her band, for free, since she prefers not to pay musicians who support her on tour that aren't a part of her regular crew. Seriously though, maybe if she came out in support of the KS and tried to mobilize her view effective social network, they could help put it over the top. Maybe she has and I missed it? _________________ yup, that's my name. FOR YOUR RATING PLEASURE: 4 LIKE Buttons, 1 NEUTRAL, 1 VEXED, 5 DISLIKE buttons. They should have gotten pal Haley Joel Osment to do a Sixth Sense parody: "I see Eisley... And you could, too. Please pledge their Kickstarter. " If you want to see Neil and wife look up Amoeba Records on YouTube. _________________ I am Torgo. I take care of the place while the Master is away. |

If I were an adviser to Eisley, this would be my recommendation at this point: Based on pledges, offer the most sought after physical items as Tour Exclusives on your next Headlining tour. All digital content offered via Kickstarter can be sold on tour via a Dropcard digital download cards or some equivalent, and online via Noisetrade (since that relationship exists already, and they have an options where you can make a "tip" a requirement for download). Personalized items can be sold any number of online vending services, from Ebay to Etsy etc. Sell tickets to the livestream shows. Schematic (Dave from MAE) did this to raise funds for his project and it went very well for him, he too, did acoustic performances of entire beloved albums for his fans. Make them a semi-regular thing, quarterly perhaps, with themes that make them each unique. Make these permanent revenue streams, using the KS campaign's fate the initial rallying point to plug fans in. _________________ yup, that's my name. This particular Kickstarter landed on the front page of the A.V. Club. Well, it's more of an article about Kickstarter in general, but it used this one as their prime example. http://www.avclub.com/articles/the-crowdfunding-conundrum-the-line-bet ween-bringi,97910/ _________________ "If you're a ninja, every day is like friday." -Jamie M. |

I'm sad that there is more press coverage of Eisley's Kickstarter than one of the best albums of last year, Sucre - A Minor Bird. Last year Starflyer 59 funded an album indepently through KS and released it in January. Not even small music websites reviewed it. It would be interesting if Eisley's failed KS actually gets them more exposure and reviews for Currents than they would have received otherwise. _________________ I am Torgo. its a town called rock falls. like i said its right off of interstate 88 heading west. its about 2 hours from oak park and about and hour from naperville. its past dekalb and all that jazz. we are the second exit past the end of the tolls on 88. very small town but still pretty close to chicago _________________ Wil's excellent description of me. wilsmith wrote: You're the Anti-Censorship+Topless Twitpic Parodying+Youth Group Video Directing guy that's a champion for the 1st amendment, Videogames as Art, and unrepentant file sharing... Is it just me or did anyone else think they would maybe post something acknowledging that this didn't happen/thank the 1k fans who pledged anyway and give us an idea of where they plan to go from there? They are awfully quiet.. which they have been for about a week. I suppose with all the hate they've gotten on some other sites maybe that's why. |
