Somebody might bust my chops for not putting this under shameless, but...that would be me. But, I learned something sacred in design school. "Know the rules - and know when to break them". One of our favorite bands on the planet is MIDLAKE. They'll be at SXSW and tonight I was talking to Eric and asked for this info so if any of you guys are there, you can go to one of their two shows Midlake is signed to Bella Union in the UK and V2 in France. Our very own Craig Aaronson of Warner Bros. is going to see them there. So is V2 in the US and other indie's . They're amazing...and, they're some of our best friends. Lead singer/writer, Tim Smith, has been in France doing interviews with rock press but will be back tomorrow. Here's Eric's email to me: hey boyd. it was good talking with you this evening... glad to hear everything is well. ok.. here goes: ____________________________________ Midlake Wednesday March 17th 1:00 P.M. Emo's This is a free party. Anyone can go. No bracelet required. ____________________________________ Midlake Friday March 19th 1:00 A.M. Sake on kSixth. This is the SXSW showcase. I've been listening to Balloon Maker on repeat for over half an hour now. I loves that song. Thanks for the link, BD. They even had a version in ogg vorbis on that SXSW site. Interesting. _________________ "If you're a ninja, every day is like friday." -Jamie M. |

We've been saying since the beginning...since the first time we heard their indie, self produced record in 2000 - while Eisley was recording ep1 that they're totally going to explode...it's just a matter of time. They've been thru it... but now, the world is waking up. Europe is waking up. The US is so "machine"...they overlook what's really groundbreaking. We keep screaming: "wake up.... sign Midlake. Don't be stupid! They will be the first band from the US to rival the great Eurobands in rock history". They're ambient, eclectic, melodic, their seasoned, young UNT jazz musicians who love bands like Radiohead, Grandaddy, Clinique, Flaming Lips, The Beatles, Rufus, Kent...on and on... unique sound. amazing. bd _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead. i've heard the stuff on their site, and that live thing they did for bbc radio 6. i loved it. gonna get their album when it comes out, but according to amazon.co.uk its not out until april 26th. can we order midlake for some festival fun n frollicks over hear in the uk. that balloon maker song is magical. im sure one of the Eisley's, prob Sherri, had it on their xanga sometime in the past, love it. _________________ "A mathematician is a blind man in a dark room looking for a black cat which isn't there." - Charles Darwin (legend) |
