That girl with the avatar above mine is Kim. wow. I posted below hers. Question about "religious" about Brand New or Eisley? "Religious" is ambiguous. And "Christian" is slang term used by other than followers of Christ...a carry-over from the first century. Nowadays, the term enjoys an even sadder state - synonymous with lies, fakery, hypocrisy, greed, arrogance, etc. Not interested in identity alignment. But - yah...the band is all about the reality behind the tarnished name. bd _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead. Wow Boyd. Great sum up. Eisley is exactly were they're supposed to be. Remember our instructions were to "Go". Not "build it and they will come". (that was a movie) does that make sense? seems "man" has distorted everything. This post hit real close to home. -CK |

ditto CK. I'm having issues that I don't feel I should splatter out here without care. Long have I had problems with various of the incarnations of christian faith, and those problems have led me here. Tags are silly though. silly sick little moo cows. I'm glad the video is being played somewhere, whether it be late at night on MTV or on an obscure religious network. _________________ Elizabeth: You two could never make out. You'd start a fire! yes angel is a religous network that has a top ten video countdown. Bands like emery and annberlin are on it also. You can believe in god and seriously question things some have done under his name. I dont buy into most of it but i do belive in god and i'm sure that is the same as the people in eislley, they would never try and force someone to think the same way they do. They however should not have to cover up the fact that they believe in god. We are called modern christians and i personally believe there is room for everyone reguardless of religions, color, creed, gender or other beliefs. We can all tolerate each other. I love that guy boyd he thinks exactly like i do. Strip it down to its core and chrisianity is all about love, faith, tolerence, and freindship. I tell you love your enemy as you friend.(one of my favorites) |

chad_svt wrote: They however should not have to cover up the fact that they believe in god. ) Yes, way too many bands do that. It's like they're worried no one will like them if they find out. We aren't supposed to be ashamed of what we believe, afterall, what's there to be ashamed of? P.S. You sound like a cool boardie |

I've found that many bands of Christians, whether taking the label Christian or not, are "just trying to make music that eeeveerybody likes", and it's like they're so caught up in the connection side of things. They lose sight of the entire purpose of going out and playing music for the unsaved population to hear, which is of course to share the Gospel and bring lost souls to Christ. The Bible does tell us that "they will know us by our love", not by our common problems or interests, and it seems like a lot of bands spend so much time trying to associate, that they forget that worn out phrase, hey, we're not OF this world, only in it. Just a thought. As for the name or title Christian, I think it applies to a band the same way it does to a single person. When we are born again, what we should be trying to produce is through the eys of a saved person, and that's how people will know somone is a Christian (like said before, by our love). it should be the same way with a band made up of entirely believers. Everything it produces, whether talking about an afterlife or a Sea King, should be through a Christlike view (granted, maybe the lyrics in a song about a Sea King would not change wither way! haha). And when you say that you ARE a Christian band, that's exactly what you are saying, that what's being produced by you is morphed by Christ's effect on you, whether they like it or not. Call me crazy, but I'm led to think that the world's rejection and steriotyping of Christian music is a form of modern day persecution. Now of course, like we all know we are human, so like in our lives, we will fall and make mistakes. However, a band is an establishment with the intent of sharing the Gospel, and so, being another layer outside of ourselves, it's easier to remember to let it be led by Christ alone, therefore making fewer mistakes. All in all, I'm not saying bust into every single gig Bible's ablazin' and the band screaming, "Jesus!", buuuut, Eisley is almost to their first album, and though I have no idea what the Lord has in store for them, it would be horrible if they forgot to do purpose checks everyonce in a while. If that means giving a ten-qord sumup of the gospel before or after a show, than whatever, man. So, from an adoring fan of the music and band, some thoughts. |

yup. thanks. Trust me. I want to take off the kid gloves and go a few rounds on this one. I'm sure these topics are the subject of much debate on sites like dallaschristianmusic.com (as I recall, there was early hatemongering about eisley there a year ago). Anyone who wants to get into it there... or in your youth group - or certainly, use the power of this forum's PM. (eh hem, everyone is watching.) ok. nobody is arguing, but this one will go there. _________________ EisleyWebGuy "The industrialists never saw the fruit of their own labor - Post Moderism, which I now proclaim as dead.
