u could tell them that Eisley is the best band ever, and that to compare them to anyone else would be degrading....

i also like the idea of beating them up to make them understand.....

good idea erin!

you could always say that when you listen to Eisley, the secrets of the Universe and the meaning of life become clear. And then when your buddies listen to them and ask why they dont understand the meaning of life any better, you can tell them 'It's music, man...music." And if they ask why did they have to hear Eisley in order to understand this and not any other band, THATS when you say "EXACTLY. Because Eisley is THAT GOOD."

You know, something like that.

I'm a fan of the violence tactic. It's short and to the point, no allowance for counter-arguments and the like Wink

Rolling Stone: "The Look of Avril with the sound of the Flaming Lips."

Boyd DuPree:
The look of Flaming Avril.
The look of Hanson with the look of The Dixie Chicks.
The sound of Kid A in a band with kid B, C and D.

I think I wouldn't say they sound like any of the great classic rock bands
like Radiohead, Coldplay, Pink Floyd...etc. People just think - "oh
brother...yeah, right...them and every other band on the planet..."

gets a little ireome hearing them compared to this and that. to be fair i dont think they sound like radiohead, every 'new' band gest compared to them, eisley do not sound like radiohead. pink floyd? i've never really got that either. and the rest (but maybe in the past i may have said something like that, hmm, i dont know)

what you do see is influences shining thru. all i can say is that they aren't really like anything that i would 'normally' listen to, they are a very good band, i like their music and would recommend anyone to listen to them, the are almost certainly very intriguing and i cant wait for the album. woo.

if you really need a description, go with Boyds, he's never usually far off the mark, with anything Wink

Tis music to sing to. Music to dance to. Music to make your Mom tap her foot and sing the wrong words to just cuz she can't help but sing along. Music to enchant loud little kids who I babysat once and quiet down once and for all cuz they wanna listen. Like a pan flute. Lulls you into a dreamy state of joy. Don't beat them up. Just play them the music. Let the Pan flute work its magic. I let my cowroker Kanani borrow it and she fell in love. I told her she HAD to hear it and now she's a fan wearing eisleymerch and all. Twas the pan flute.

it's really tough to describe eisley using other bands as referents, because part of their appeal is that they really do sound like something you've always been waiting for but that never has quite been done yet.

however, i would say eisley sound like the longing pangs of childhood memories, or like the feeling of being in the middle of reading a great novel. sorry, i know these aren't very descriptive, guess youll just have to beat them up! Rolling Eyes

p.s. one can't deny that eisley have been influenced by radiohead - i think there's a whole upcomming generation of artists that are being influenced by radiohead. unlike many other rh influenced bands, eisley have a vision of their own, and are taking elements of radiohead as tools towards expressing it, and not the other way around.

i always just describe eisley as "awesome."

and then just sort of lend them the ep's... which i carry with me... at all times... in case such a situation arises that i might need them... Shocked
