i work at a summer camp - i live with a bunch of other girls & we all listen to our little music. & as the summer progresses people are like - i like this who is this..... and i tell them and usually i just give them my hard copy. since i have it at home anyways. i live off mix cds - so its just like - i dont ever use my hard copies. but okay - i just thought people would be a little bit more open & understanding. if you dont have anything nice to say - dont say it at all. & this is why i hardly ever post in here. because i always get told im doing something wrong. |

I agree with Dan, though I know it sounds mean... Always, always, always make backup CDs. If you're still in touch with those friends you gave your hard copies to, you should have them burn you copies or just take back the ones you gave 'em. I know Eisley wouldn't have a problem with you replacing your lost music by downloading it somewhere or getting it from boardies, but the RIAA might, and this is exactly the kind of thing they're (unnecessarily) trying to put a stop to by (inanely) suing people. If none of those options are available to you, let me know and I can probably point you in the right direction... _________________ INTELLECT AND ROMANCE OVER BRUTE FORCE AND CYNICISM Smokemonster |

i'm sorry, i tried to avoid upseting you. no harsh feeling were sent towards you and i hope you can understand that. here's a solution that's fair and legal. contact one of your friends that you gave the cd to, and ask them to burn it for you. if they put the cd on their hard drive like you did, maybe they can send you a burnt copy, since, like you said, you live off them. |

That's not what Dan and I were trying to say at all. I know it came off that way, and I'm sorry. We're all just a little edgy about anything involving sending music to people, especially when it's publicized here on the forum. It's something we're not supposed to do. _________________ INTELLECT AND ROMANCE OVER BRUTE FORCE AND CYNICISM Smokemonster |

Nobody is saying anything mean. What I think most people are going to say is that we have no proof that you have purchased the cd. Anybody could come on here and claim that they purchased it, lost it, gave it away... whatever. Then ask for somebody to send it to them. It's not that we're not nice, it's that I'm not sure if anybody here wants to start a trend of sending people the album if they've claimed to have lost it. I'm sorry for your loss, I recently suffered a hard drive crash myself, lost many albums that I've purchased online that I can't get back now unlesss I buy them or download them illegally. So I understand the loss, but nobody here is trying to be mean... I'm sure you can see why people would be reluctant to send it to you. |
