Yeah ... but the good thing is, songs can be left to interpretation, too. Or she can just say it's for a new guy or some guy down the street ... or some fake guy. And then it gets reborn. ha. That's how I see it anyway. No need to let a bad experience ruin a great song. (Like Combinations and If You're Wondering, also.)

just because it showed up circa 2006 (is this right?) doesn't mean that is when it was written (think of Thom Yorke bringing a bass line he wrote in high school for The National Anthem on Kid A).

and i write plenty of love songs and i ain't in love.

I don't know all the lyrics, and haven't heard any recording besides the YouTube link posted above. Here are the chords for that:

First verse: Alternate D-major and G-major a bunch of times.

Does anyone here update the Eisley Tabs site? http://www.eisleytab.cjb.net/ I ask because I've provided the chords for two Eisley songs that aren't on that site (the post above, and also here).


UPDATE: Never mind! I had missed the tiny link to "lp2 era," where DRMS_7888 already put the correct chords to Come Clean.

ok. so do you think she plays the normal A shape chord (D) with capo on 5? or wait, i don't think i ever tried just normal D and G, but there is that constant ringing like the top strings are just left open and played througout if i remember correctly. i know the capo worked well with another part because you just play the normal F and G chords (of course these would all be 5 steps up - B flat and C like you said).

after that i was trying every type chord change i could think of and coming up empty, but it looks like i could have just played the C shape.

(if this is all confusing i'm trying to relate the chords in relation to the capo and i don't know the proper terms).

anyway, i'll mess with this sometime.

I think it has a nice laid back feel to it. The guitar on the demo reminds me of a song I love called "Pets" by Porno For Pyros (it's really not very much like it but still, just something about it).

Also I thought Stacy couldn't whistle, so who is doing the whistling?

When the chord goes to E-minor on the YouTube video, I hear that low E-string on the guitar. That's just a normal E-minor chord. And so, like the fashion designer in The Incredibles, I say, "No Capo!" Smile

i forgot about that.

there's also this weird guitar part mirroring the melody during that little part and it almost sounds like they're trying to play slide guitar with a spoon or something.

ok, i played along to the demo and live version featured on patrock's site. i have too slow an internet connection to download the youtube clip this century.

D and Em7 seem to fit the verses. you can hold that D on the B string for both chords.

i've listened to it 8,000 times the last week or so.
if you listen at 3:27 you can faintly hear Kim say, "supper's ready!"*
when something grasps me like that i try to analyze it i guess, pick it apart and try to figure out why.
that recording does have a 'pull' though with subtle layers being added througout even to the last chorus.
