That's what you get with cheap knock-offs, I'm sticking with the original. 
The thinline Teles are the best ones IMO, looking good Todd! That quilted maple is beautiful, what color is the finish gonna be?? Made up your mind Chauntelle? see, now i wish i hadn't even bothered to post that video! they're not really Eisley clones at all — i mean, they didn't decide that they wanted to be born to look like Eisley, did they? and they don't really dress that similar (or, at least, not any more than most “indie” bands), or sound that similar (or, again, not any more than most “indie” bands), or anything… and Eisley isn't really that unique of a band, either! i mean, you can clearly hear a lot of influences in both bands, and some are clearly shared, and others clearly aren't, and… whatever… why am i even defending this band? when i posted that video i barely even knew anything about them! it's not like i'm a huge fan, or anything, it's just that i think it's ridiculous to say that they're an Eisley knock-off just because they're a female-fronted family band playing “indie” pop/rock/whatever, which is about the only real similarity that's there! |

oh, yeah, back to the Telecasters — here's Emmylou Harris with James Burton, probably my all-time favorite Telecaster player: Shop Around and Jambalaya. but, of course, Chauntelle's will probably end up having “hot” humbuckers, or whatever, and won't sound a damn thing like a Telecaster! that's the way these things always work out… |

In a few months after their record company has pushed the heck out of the Bridges album, people will be asking Eisley if they patterned themselves after the Bridges. I can't believe that's your new favorite band man.

um, they're not my new favorite band! apart from my crush on the guitar player (who's actually named Stacy, which i'm sure she totally stole from Eisley's Stacy too!), the best thing i can say about them is that their music is pleasant to listen to, reasonably well-crafted, and i'm glad to actually hear a band like this using a Telecaster as a Telecaster (and not just a “cool” and “indie” guitar, that they'll drench in so much distortion that you can't even hear the damn thing [which Chauntelle will probably do too, unfortunately…]) do i even have a “new” favorite band? i honestly haven't heard much new music that really excites me at all these days, and what i have heard has been from bands i've already liked. most of the bands that are getting hyped up a lot now (Hot Chip, MGMT, whatever) don't do anything for me at all! |

wait, i forgot the Telecaster video! here we go: Clarence White with The Byrds! Clarence White is not only a major factor in Telecaster history because of his playing, but also because he invented the B-Bender with Gene Parsons! i think Chauntelle should get a B-Bender on her new Telecaster, but, eh, it's her guitar, and i'm sure she doesn't give the slightest damn what i think! but, yeah, i'm with Kim! i never, ever, meant to start on a discussion on anything other than Chauntelle's new guitar, except, maybe, on Telecasters in general (just because they're so amazingly awesome, and are still actually sort-of on topic!) |

! I love Chauntelle's love of feedback and distortion-laden guitar wash. Its that grit under the soaring, delicate, hauntingly ethereal vocals that gives em the sound that makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. And I love telecasters. Both = even better. Can't wait to hear the result! Oh yeah-- that sound? from what I can tell the Bridges don't have it. I didn't give them much of a chance, but from what I've heard they sound quite generic and boring (-sorry kim). They do look uncannily like a studied imitation in the vid though. |

well, i didn't mean to sound like i don't like Chauntelle's guitar sound (i do!), it's just that when i listen to most music today the guitar is always so drenched in distortion and other effects that i can't even hear it, and it's kind of refereshing to hear a new band going for a sound a little more clean, and a little more old-fashioned (especially since that's the way i play!) |

OK...well then...thanks everyone for your comments...even though some I consider a little unresearched and inexperienced...but none the less they are amusing! So...I have been in my shop carving and sanding away at this new creation for Chauntelle....Rooting through my personal wood stash I came across a couple of pieces of wood that are gonna make this tele have a tone all it's own!! The fingerboard and the head plate are very rare Brazilian Rosewood. These pieces happen to be some of the best I have ever seen!! No Lie!! Perfectly quartersawn and dark in color!! I wish you guys could smell the sweetness of this wood! [img]

If thats not enough I decided to use East Indian Rosewood for the neck!! One incredible quartersawn piece!! Very purple in color and has a real spicy aroma....but man it will help this tele chime like church bells!! [img]
