LaRose Guitars wrote: OK...well then...thanks everyone for your comments...even though some I consider a little unresearched and inexperienced...but none the less they are amusing! So...I have been in my shop carving and sanding away at this new creation for Chauntelle....Rooting through my personal wood stash I came across a couple of pieces of wood that are gonna make this tele have a tone all it's own!!
The fingerboard and the head plate are very rare Brazilian Rosewood. These pieces happen to be some of the best I have ever seen!! No Lie!! Perfectly quartersawn and dark in color!! I wish you guys could smell the sweetness of this wood! [img]
Heres a full shot! [/img]
If thats not enough I decided to use East Indian Rosewood for the neck!! One incredible quartersawn piece!! Very purple in color and has a real spicy aroma....but man it will help this tele chime like church bells!! [img]
Well thats all for now...updates to come!! And please I love the comments!! [/img] (Well, i figured out my question.) The beautiful rosewood neck is going to make the guitar sound different? How, kind sir? _________________ "Commit to the Lord whatever you do and your plans will succeed." prov 16:3 |

well, look, i'm not sure you can ever really know how a guitar will sound until it's all peiced together — but, for whatever it's worth, every Telecaster i've ever played or heard that was made out of these sorts of “exotic” woods has sounded like absolute $#@! (unless it had humbuckers, and then it just sounded like a Les Paul!) the problem is that they're too dense and too heavy, and on a Telecaster that leaves you an incredibly flat and harsh sound, which is also usually the opposite of what the person building it is looking for! i mean, they usually think “well, Gibson and PRS use these kinds of woods, and they sound fat, so it'll make my Telecaster sound fat!” wrong! just listen to George Harrison's all Rosewood Telecaster: to these ears it sounds dead as a door nail, and twice as sharp! all the real Telecaster guys know that the fattest sounding Telecasters are made from Pine… not that this really has anything to do with the topic at hand! i don't have a damn clue what it'll sound like, and i'm willing to give Mr. LaRose the benefit of the doubt (and i'm still convinced it'll end up with humbuckers, so, again, it'll probably just sound like a Les Paul!) |

I need to be rude here for a second, so excuse me: You need to chill out. And I'm not saying that just about this post in particular. That's all I'm going to say on that matter, so don't bother responding to it. On topic, I really like the look of that wood! Very beautiful, and I'm sure it will sound equally lovely. |

um, i'm actually pretty “chill” right now… if i were any more “chill” i'd probably fall asleep (actually, that sounds like a good idea…) oh, and i don't actually think you were being rude at all — not even kinda, or sorta, or anything… although, if you have something to say to me, i'd much rather actually hear it, than just hear you allude to it, or whatever (you can PM if you like… or not…) |
