Truth be told....

I'm worried that Eisley's is going to be way too judgemental on themselves, and say, "Man these 4 songs sucked b/c..."

and never let anyone ever see it because of little things that most people will never even notice.......I know this is true. i've been in bands that do live recordings, and they wont let people hear some shows b/c it wasn't a top show....and we dont want to be judged by it.......Sad

It sucks too, b/c 1.ve footage is so hard to come by.....2. shows the true band that can't be coverd up in a recording.......its the best Promoter also, because people know they're getting to see the true band, and will judge them purely on that show......if you're a solid band, that's great news, and you've picked up a bigger folllowing.....What's bad news is when bands worry about this footage getting into the wrong hands.....What that really proves is that the band shouldn't be worring about footage that Will eventually get out, one show, or another, but why they're so worried about their live show being sloppy, and how they can fix that, so that live footage becomes a good thing for them....

need examples? Good=Coldplay(amazing every recording i hear.....THATS why their frikin coldplay, and not Radiant:)
Bad=Brand New-absolute worste show despite still being one of my fav. cd's...man they need to sing those melodys and get a better guitarist for harmonies.....

If bands are scared of their live show not being amazing, trying to pull all live unpolished footage is not the answer........getting better is.....

*i def. went off onto a rant...this is not all related to this thread...just in general, and i'm seeing a bit it in this senario here.....

yes.... and, of course, Eisley, like every other band is trying to improve
their live show....no one is focused on sensoring video footage.

I'm sorry we paused for a moment and had the thought..."can we see the
video first?" It wasn't meant to be the subject of some big philosophical
debate. I guess it was inevitable. And thats...ok. whatever... it sorta
gives us something to yak about besides tacos and Stacy's eyes, huh....

Will try to put out more live media out there....and eveyone can decide
whether it's sensored or not. (mean smiley) I do agree with spydog... I
have 3 new live radiohead bootlegs; some songs are pretty bad....missed
notes, Jonny and Thom couldn't get their rhythms together... sloppy
playing, etc. I still loved it. Makes them human.

In light of all of that is on this thread, I understand why bands stop allowing people to video tape their shows. Rolling Eyes

Eisley has always tried to remain down to earth. Touchable.
The attitudes here about them wanting to view this video first, kinda makes me think twice about letting people in with video.

I've been to tons of Eisley shows that sounded amazing live, but sounded like crap on video.

I'm sure it is something they will have to reconsider now.

Too bad.

Maybe Eisley just wants their fans to hear the songs the
way they want them to be heard; to get the effect that theyre
striving for. No one is perfect, and they know that of course,
and just because they want good quality performances to be
seen and heard by their fans and those who haven't heard them yet
does not mean that theyre being too judgemental on themselves.

You can't really blame a band for wanting their
music to be experienced the way they created it to be.
Why do bands spend months and months recording
and mixing albums? To give the best quality their money can
buy.

And just because Eisley wants to see the video does not
mean that they dont have full confidence in their live shows
like Boyd said, theyre always looking to improve, as would any band,
even Coldplay, but I've seen them live more times than I can count, and
can say without hesitation that theyre one of my favorite live bands to watch.....and NOT just because Im so close to them.

I belive that Eisley has the right to see the footage first and make any changes they see fit. I also want to see it my self but I think that they have right to see it first.

How would everyone feel if the band decided to not allow any cameras in(video or stills),didn't sign autographs, didn't reply to PM's and posts on here because of the selfishness shown by a few? other bands/artists are like that (Maynard from Tool/A Perfect Circle) is a good example, you can't take a camera anywhere near him,he doesnt do instores etc.......Let's remember this is a privilege we have as fans, not a god given right, the band don't have to allow any of this at all if they so choose...but they do out of the goodness of their hearts so letting them have a look first is the decent/respectful thing to do seeing as they requested it.

Thanks Ali.

Still feeling very weak. I have to go back to the hospital in 2 weeks to have an agioplasty procedure done, and hopefully not a bypass surgery.

So, just sitting here on bed rest, watching the Ike and Tina Turner story, and checking out the Eisley forum. Smile
and missing the rest of my family.

Back to the subject, I can't imagine any artist not wanting their best stuff out to the WWW.

maybe everyone should just comply with eisley's request seeing how its their work on the tape and we should respect that whole heartly. we need to realize that eisley/boyd/dupree give us a lot more than most bands, like a daily journal of what they do. eisley is more interactive than most bands, so instead of looking at it as what we're NOT getting (and boyd never even said we culdnt see it, eisley just wanted too first) we should realize how much we do get.

i wish hand held videocameras didn't take decent shows and reduce them
to the worst piles of crap. I tell you, it's a phenominon. I always tape
eisley's shows... and am usually excited about the show; I get home, pop
the tape in...and am horrified. All bands say the same thing.

really? hrm that's weird... because I have a video camera that's pretty similar to yours.. it's a sony digi cam whatever, but it's got stereo sound etc etc etc, and i've always been impressed with the sound... I've only recorded songs from one live show with it, and it turned out pretty damned good...

but yeah, I suppose it all depends on the venue and the audience and the performence eh?
